I thought Keto was low carb, not low calorie

Article doesn’t seem to say how many calories the study considered low-calorie.

I don’t like where I was 6 years ago. I think I’ll stay where I am.

“The diet works by dramatically reducing carbohydrate intake while moderating protein and increasing healthy fat consumption. This macronutrient shift forces the body to produce ketone bodies, particularly beta-hydroxybutyrate, which researchers believe may directly influence cellular aging mechanisms.”

I am sorry. Any article that provides conclusions about a “study” that does not provide links to the study is questionable. It has been known for decades that low calorie diets tend to extend life spans “keto” or not.

Tega Egwabor gave no attribution to the university, the authors, or the original journal article.

For those of us who like to read the original research, this article sucks.

I stuck to this program for a lot longer than this study, and I can attest to the fact that this really works, just like they say.

Here's my "before" and "after" pictures.

Meat, eggs, cheese, nuts, green vegetables, strawberries, blueberries

If you do strenuous labor or regular intensive exercise, carb up on the weekends. Pizza or whatever.

This study was conducted on people who were obese to begin with. Probably any kind of diet would improve their longevity.

This study says they had several phases, but the calories were between 600 and 800 a day. Carbs were kept low to assure ketosis and protein was primarily used in the first phase.

This was in their supplementary file.
