Vance is a Marine...he's good. Marines didn't show the palm. The rest are ok to me.
Not sure about the rest of the branches. Salutes are a tad different without a brim.
What it's suppose to be and what it is, is 2 different things.

Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the family, and the one who started the company, has another side. He’s a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, and actually has a Master’s of Education degree.

And while he was at Louisiana Tech, he played football. And as the 1st string starting quarterback, he was very good. So good in fact that he had an offer from the Washington Redskins.

Even his 2nd string quarterback said Phil had the best arm he’d ever seen. He also said he knew Phil really liked to hunt because he would show up at practice with squirrel tails hanging out of his jacket and covered in duck feathers. But since he was obviously a very good shot, no one complained.

But with a year of eligibility remaining, Phil decided that as much as he loved football, he loved hunting better. So he gave up football to have more time for hunting, and a few years later started Duck Commander.

And the rest is history.

Oh yeah. The 2nd string quarterback who said Phil Robertson had the best arm he’d ever seen, and who didn’t get much playing time until Phil quit football … that would be Terry Bradshaw, top draft pick in 1970, who played 14 seasons with the Pittsburg Steelers, won 4 Super Bowls, and a spot in the Hall of Fame.

That Terry Bradshaw.

needed more info here...

https://www.justice.gov/usao-wdva/pr/former-culpeper-sheriff-sentenced-10-years-federal-bribery-charges

supposedly, Jenkins accepted cash bribes and bribes in the form of campaign contributions from co-defendants Rick Rahim, Fredric Gumbinner, and James Metcalf, as well as at least five others, including two FBI undercover agents.

Rahim, Gumbinner, and Metcalf have all pled guilty for their roles in the conspiracy.

wonder what was the exculpatory evidence.

Well, I was a sailor and a slacker so I tried to avoid it, but I think it is close enough, for me.

Chills. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth just delivered a powerful, moving speech at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day.

Secretary Hegseth: “President Trump, Vice President Vance, Chairman Kaine, Gold Star families, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us today to remember our fallen warriors. We gather here to honor our very best, gone in their youth. To properly do so, we understand who they are and what they fought for. It is our simple duty to them.

You know, throughout time, civilizations have honored the powerful, the well-connected, and the well-born. Emperors and kings have built magnificent shrines to their own royal greatness. Yet in America, with our great experiment in self-government, it is fitting that the most honored and closely guarded tomb in the land is that of an anonymous soldier, of an unknown rank.

When the first Unknown Soldier was selected for burial in 1921, he laid in state at the Capitol Rotunda. Throngs of Americans paid their respects. When the tomb was dedicated on November 11th, Veterans Day, the Unknown received the Medal of Honor. It’s a uniquely American tradition that we honor anonymous sacrifice above worldly greatness.

While we don’t know the Unknown’s identity, race, or creed, we know his story. It’s the story of every soldier, every warrior. It’s a simple story, as old as war. A young man with hopes and dreams and loves, who’s called by his country, leaves behind his hometown, his parents, his siblings, his sweetheart—all that he knows—to go fight a war that he may or may not understand.

He’s called to go through hell and back, to sleep in a trench, to eat out of a tin cup or on the hood of a Humvee, to pray as bullets and bombs thunder around him, to fear for the bullet, or the mortar, or the IED, or the RPG with his name on it. He does it willingly and stoically because he loves his country, his brothers in arms, and his family.

This is the story of the Unknown, the story of the fallen soldier whom we have gathered today to honor. It is the story of the American warrior. He answered the call, fought, and died for this Republic, the ultimate sacrifice of a free people. You see, the American soldier fights not because he hates what’s in front of him, but because he loves what’s behind him.

We honor his selfless sacrifice, his courage, his duty, and his love. As Jesus taught his disciples, ‘Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.’ This love is a gift given freely, and yet this gift comes with responsibility to those living.

We owe a duty to those who have fallen in war; they have paid a debt we can never repay, and for that, we owe gratitude and remembrance. We owe at least this—to remember their sacrifice and honor their memory, year after year—salute after salute, ceremony after ceremony, parade after parade, prayer after prayer—that by our remembrance, we keep lit the eternal flame of their heroic deeds in defense of our nation.

And we owe eternal vigilance. Eternal vigilance—the price of freedom. These men died for something: the hope of a free, secure, and peaceful Republic. That is our inheritance, and we must steward it and hand it down to our kids and our grandkids. We must live worthy of it.

These men dreamed of a future in which their children would not fear of attack, no enemy could threaten their peace, and no war could require them to take up arms. The duty we owe these men is peace, which only can be achieved through strength. And because we strive for peace, we must prepare for war. That’s the job of the Chairman and I and so many others at the Defense Department. Each and every day, we will never, on behalf of those who’ve given so much, we will never be complacent.

We owe these men nothing less—our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor. So on this Memorial Day, in honor of the Unknown Soldiers and the known, let us rededicate ourselves to God and country, to our great Republic 249 years on. We stand on the shoulders of great men and on the shoulders of those great men in those graves. And may we live worthy of it.

Thank you. God bless our warriors, and may God bless our fallen, and Amen. Amen.”

HT/Mark Bonner :

COMMENTARY: I’m noticing that there are some folks doing some serious whining about the Trump administration. So I thought I’d post some thoughts.

1. Accept the fact that this is the leadership that we working, middle class Americans wanted. We are pulling the economic weight in this country and we are tired of pulling the weight of those that do not contribute.

2. If you haven’t already, get a job. Every business in the country is hiring. And you get paid for the work you do. And the harder you work and the more you learn, the faster you will advance and the more you will earn. It’s an amazing concept.

3. Understand that if you are a citizen or a legal alien that you are not going to get deported! I don’t care what CNN says.

4. Tariffs are a bargaining chip. When you are in business you make deals, and sometimes you have to play hardball. That’s how you get the deals you desire.

5. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects you from discrimination by age, sex, race, etc. DEI openly violates this. Democrats want you to believe the opposite is true because they value your vote more than your quality of life.

6. It’s not the government’s money, it’s your money. You absolutely should give a damn about how it is spent.

7. We are not the World Bank. If other countries need help they should raise their own finances. I don’t recall receiving any hurricane relief money from India or China.

8. Drill baby, drill. Want to know why? Because we have it. Are electric cars the future? Not in their current form. There is way more oil in the ground than lithium, and guess where most of that is? China. Want food prices to come down? Then energy costs have to come down. And that means oil, gas, coal, and nuclear. Unicorn farts won’t power a factory.

9. The economy and the security of the country are far more important than your feelings, get over it.

10. There are men and there are women. Simple as that.

11. Education is to establish a learning core that prepares a child for the real, working world. Anything else is wrong.

12. Donald J. Trump is the President of the United States and he won in a mathematical landslide. Get over it.

Copied from another post.

From a dear friend Randy Davis - who has a ministry as a chalk artist. He is exceptionally great with oral, written and chalk communication.

He is longtine friends with Ambassador Huckabee who has been a loving friend also to Randy’s only child a daughter Wendy a warm young woman with Down’s syndrome

He shared on FB these thoughts

<>

Truth is a key foundation of a civilization. If there is no truth, there can be no trust.

Speaking the truth to others begins by speaking the truth to the Lord and to ourselves.

Many people tell lies because they fear the consequences of telling the truth.

People also tell lies in order to gain what they do not deserve.

Two primary motivations control our words and actions:

Desire for gain or fear of loss.

Thanks for newsy info/links

Happy for a few minutes had a strong enough signal to connect with several

Not the case yesterday as no service most of afternoon and evening went to sleep at 7:30 with last nite on top right of phone -SOS No Servive

Yesterday’s gathering with granddaughter canceled due to rain. It is always a big affair that I frankly don’t enjoy. Usually 30 or more adults and a dozen kids under 5. Most adults 30 years. A couple my sons age 50 and none my age.

The four VERY LARGE TVs in home all going and all with a different early childhood stations

The family decided to have a smaller outing to which Jeff and I had no interest. Kids movie at theater and dinner at pricey restaurant. Both in adjoining city 34 miles away. The regulars were there. Granddaughter and her two kids, her mom(son’s ex) and her hubby, friend and daughter. This is the mother whose daughter was killed with grandson Jayce two years ago.

These are all great people and are very tight and do a lot together. Jeff(and moi) is always invited. Most outings are way beyond our budget. The others are very financially blessed(or maybe cursed) and a $200 evening is common

Is there any type of Memorial Day in Indonesia?

Another delay in PING Sigh

Yes, there is. It is “Hari Pawlahan” (Heroes’ Day) and is celebrated on Monday, November 10, 2025. For Americans, usually not. School just got out and this is a time of transition. People are going to villages, going on furlough, or taking a vacation. Ain’t hardly nobody here.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

California, under the leadership of Radical Left Democrat Gavin Newscum, continues to ILLEGALLY allow “MEN TO PLAY IN WOMEN’S SPORTS.” This week a transitioned Male athlete, at a major event, won “everything,” and is now qualified to compete in the “State Finals” next weekend. As a Male, he was a less than average competitor. As a Female, this transitioned person is practically unbeatable. THIS IS NOT FAIR, AND TOTALLY DEMEANING TO WOMEN AND GIRLS. Please be hereby advised that large scale Federal Funding will be held back, maybe permanently, if the Executive Order on this subject matter is not adhered to. The Governor, himself, said it is “UNFAIR.” I will speak to him today to find out which way he wants to go??? In the meantime I am ordering local authorities, if necessary, to not allow the transitioned person to compete in the State Finals. This is a totally ridiculous situation!!!

@realDonaldTrump

I was extremely satisfied with the 50% Tariff allotment on the European Union, especially since they were “slow walking (to put it mildly!), our negotiations with them. Remember, I am empowered to “SET A DEAL” for Trade into the United States if we are unable to make a deal, or are treated unfairly. I have just been informed that the E.U. has called to quickly establish meeting dates. This is a positive event, and I hope that they will, FINALLY, like my same demand to China, open up the European Nations for Trade with the United States of America. They will BOTH be very happy, and successful, if they do!!!

What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He’s playing with fire!

Don’t think bragadoshis is such a good idea against Putin. Didn’t seem to work on Hamas, who still has the hostages. Putin is way more complicated, and he knows all the bad stuff behind the scenes.
