After a handful of underwhelming relationships and dozens of disappointing first dates, Andrea Vorlicek recently called off the search for a husband.
The 29-year-old always thought she’d have found her life partner by now. Instead, she’s house hunting solo and considering having kids on her own.
“I’m financially self-sufficient enough to do these things myself,” said Vorlicek, a Boston-based accountant. “I’m willing to accept being single versus settling for someone who isn’t the right fit.”
She sees her plans for an independent future as making the best of a lousy situation. “I don’t want to sit here and say I’m 100% happy,” Vorlicek said. “But I feel happier just accepting my reality. It’s mentally and emotionally a sense of peace.”
American women have never been this resigned to staying single. They are responding to major demographic shifts, including huge and growing gender gaps in economic and educational attainment, political affiliation and beliefs about what a family should look like.
“The numbers aren’t netting out,” said Daniel Cox, director of the survey center at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a conservative think tank. He ticked off the data points: More women than men are attending college, buying houses and focusing on their friendships and careers over dating and marriage.

Legal abortion and further back, legal chemical birth control made this probable. Marriage works as a partnership with divided tasks. The woman takes care of the home and the man earns the living. That is the biological structure of creation. The more that women think they can and should do all the muscle things that men from the beginning have done they forget about the protection that the married man ideally provides his family as well as the products of the hunt and of labor the fewer babies are born and the fewer marriages occur.
Is there a picture of her?
Not at all realistic.
No ability to accept responsibility.
Not socialized for marriage and family.
Secular families won't be having children.
And what about the men? A surprising amount of American men are mama’s boys and no woman can measure up.
I take it you are single?
Did you try, really try? Or ___ test, insult, the high Alpha? 🚨
That women are giving up on marriage is just the latest lie in an attempt to reverse the declining birthrate.
We live in a misandrist matriarchy. The CommuFeminists of the 4th wave played themselves. The power brokers are desperate to turn things around because the swarthy "Replacement Americans" they imported can't keep the system functioning.
Too late; no refunds. These men aren't coming back. They didn't walk away to teach society a lesson, they walked away because they learned theirs.
I blame the courts, divorce is easy and almost always expensive for men. I read 70% of all divorces are started by women. So yes, I agree, women are 10 years behind men in the mgtow movement.
Ya, no.
Happily married for many decades. I’m old. When I was dating, things were different. I see what changed and I’m not afraid to comment on it.
What the article neglects to mention is, no man asked these harpies.
To all the American women, it isn’t us, it’s you.
Look around, folks—young women today are outpacing men in college graduation rates, they’re earning more, they’re making smarter choices, and they’re more mature. Meanwhile, too many young men are falling behind, stuck in a culture that discourages responsibility and ambition. And here’s the kicker—many of these young women were raised by single mothers. That tells you something about the state of the family, the culture, and what happens when traditional values get tossed aside.
Bad idea. Put the kids first and don’t have them. Get a dog.
So why's that the case? 🤔
You really nailed it here. Thanks. Thanks for using the term misandrist also. You may have taught the zero I.Q. far-left “media” types a new word.
Women gets paid to divorce. Men gets punished.
So the government is incentivizing women to divorce.
Not ideal I agree.
But I understand that a man who wants a family will go to extreme measures.
