The article has some great clues on one key issue here (Katie is another woman covered in the article):
“Many of the men Katie met, she said, either seemed turned off by her ambition or weren’t career-oriented enough for her. She felt discouraged by just how many of her male friends similarly said they expect their future wives to prioritize their families over their jobs.”
Notice the men used the words “prioritize their families”. That meant they wanted to be treated as important and wanted any children to be treated as important.
The selfish modern woman cannot or will not do that. The notion of working together as a team is beyond their comprehension.
