March 10 (UPI) -- An 81-year-old woman going through boxes of her mother's belongings made a surprising discovery: an overdue library book checked out by her grandfather 99 years earlier.

"I thought, I don't have grandchildren, and my kids are getting older. Even if my son took it, I didn't know what they'd do with it," Cooper told CNN. "I figured it belongs to the library."

In a dream world some philanthropist would set up a doomsday library (a bit like the doomsday seeds vault) and when the inevitable day comes that books are needed, they will be preserved there ready to be re-discovered.

I’ll relabel the boxes “Doomsday Books”.

Thanks.

I still have a book entitled Book of 10,000 Jokes that I checked out of the Mortimer Jordan High School library in 1964, recently the school threatened to have me thrown in jail for trying to return the weighty tome.

Kind of like the Twilight Zone about the guy who loved to read but broke his glasses after surviving armageddon?

Actually the Year End book was kind of like that. The 1982 and 1983 books were full of liberal pontifs trashing Reagans economic policies.

Reads like a comic book.

Ouch.

Even worse, I suppose, humans find their way into the library — and nobody knows how to read.

Suggestions?

Hold onto them! Information online is often revised and sometimes deleted, but the information printed in a physical book will never change.

GEMINI:

Sarcasm is a form of verbal irony that’s used to express contempt or ridicule. Here’s a breakdown of its key characteristics:
* Opposite Meaning:
* Sarcasm involves saying the opposite of what you actually mean.
* For example, saying “Oh, fantastic!” when something terrible happens.
* Intention:
* The intent behind sarcasm is often to mock, criticize, or express irritation.
* It can be used humorously, but it often has a biting or sharp edge.
* Context and Tone:
* Sarcasm heavily relies on context and tone of voice.
* The way a sentence is delivered can completely change its meaning.
* It is often harder to detect in text, than in spoken conversation.
* Purpose:
* Sarcasm can be used to be hurtful, but it can also be used to be humerous.
In essence, sarcasm is a way of using language to convey a message that’s different from the literal meaning of the words spoken.

If i had the time and money I’d go through them and randomly take a subject in the book and compare it to the results of a computer search.

Write it up.

It’s 5 or 6 boxes and I just don’t want them any longer. They belong to my wife and she doesn’t either.

Normally I don’t put a /S tag on my posts as I try to give the benefit of the doubt to the reader. On that post I put it on because I knew some dumbass would take it seriously. That dumbass is you despite their being a sarcasm tag. Then you had to go look up sarcasm and post that like you discovered something nobody but you knew.

You really are retarded.

In that case, you could donate them to a charity. I had to let go of many books, and I brought them to Goodwill.
