Rep. Massie says don't bother threatening my re-election: It doesn't work!
X ^ | March 10 | Rep. Thomas Massie

Posted on 03/11/2025 4:24:20 AM PDT by RandFan

@RepThomasMassie

Someone thinks they can control my voting card by threatening my re-election. Guess what? Doesn’t work on me. Three times I’ve had a challenger who tried to be more MAGA than me. None busted 25% because my constituents prefer transparency and principles over blind allegiance.

@RepThomasMassie

The military industrial complex demands about $50 billion per year in war. As soon as we quit spending $50b per year in Afghanistan, we started spending $50b per year in Ukraine. Watch where the next $50b per year goes when we stop sending it to Ukraine. The MIC is always hungry.

I love Trump and I love what he is trying to do, but

Everything before the word BUT, is bullshit, just stop it.

With massie, it's all about him, what he wants, what he thinks is best, and the fact that he believes that a greasy congresscritter is more important than the rest of his group.

Massie is probably right, he will get elected no matter what.

I would argue there are RED districts and RED states full of stupid voters.

To validate my argument I give you this fat boy from Kentucky and Miss Lindsay Grahamnesty from South Carolina.

Who are these voters who keep these clowns in office?

Are these the folk Jeff Foxworthy talked about who go to family reunions looking for a date?

“Everything before the word BUT, is bullshit, just stop it.”

You better look through my archives here before you judge me. I am one of Trump’s strongest and most devout supporters.

But I refuse to be judged because I am willing to think outside the box of herd mentality and group think.

The factual bigger picture is we praised Massie when he was against Biden spending. Now we throw him under the bus for being consistent against Trump spending. It is a double standard just like the Democrats.

He is always against “ALL” spending. And I have no shame in agreeing with him on this point. I absolutely do not agree with everything he does and question him too, but on this stance I absolutely agree. And every principled fiscal Conservative should no matter who is in office period.

Sanctimonious phony? No, I think it’s gotten to the point that there is a screw loose in there somewhere. A Freeper above wants Trump to outline a path to a balanced budget. That would be ideal, I’d like to see it, too, except that it would let the progressives undermine it immediately.

But I also want to see Massie detail the expected results of his stand-alone-against-Trump position. What are its practical results?

Well been doing that for decades. Making your corrupt politicians richer through the grift. Sorry but I don’t plan to join in on the bread and circuses any longer. I prefer to think, to pull together to do what needs to be done in order that there is a country left for my children along with freedom. You stick by your corrupt power hungry politicians who mouth the “correct” words to make you feel better!

My give a damn just got bull dozed! Maybe it was DOGE finding the near billions in corrupt money being siphoned off. But since that’s Musk doing the grunt work gotta find fault. Yep. Sounds about right.

Done.

I think it depends on HOW the military spending is allocated. We do need to build up our inventory again, but we need to cut spending to woke projects and foreign aid.

The military industrial complex demands about $50 billion per year in war. As soon as we quit spending $50b per year in Afghanistan, we started spending $50b per year in Ukraine.

He certainly has a point there. That's not the kind of spending we need.

Here is the question of the day... Do “WE” have the honesty and integrity to be consistent and stand on principle without wavering?

Apparently not...

Honestly, and thank you for you kind and thought filled response. I do trust Rand Paul. Probably the single politician in DC worth trusting.

I think we strongly disagree on Massie. I do NOT trust him. Period. I think he is a power hungry swamp politician.

I think where we can find common ground is both of us want to right this ship and stabilize it. That will involve a lot. A lot of pain. I hate that but it is a fact and will happen. I worry for my DIL who is VA employee with a brand new mortgage on their dream home. I don’t think Massie gives two rips about her or my son. I think he is absorbed in his own power plays. That I guess is where we part common ground.

I hear your selective dishonesty argument and do give it some credence. Please know that. But as a Floridian I didn’t know Massive existed till he started his current so called principaled stance. I just find it highly suspicious.

I wish you the best and thank you for a great discussion.

You should run for Congress or better yet, run for President.

There’s one President that has a Mandate to do everything every little whiny Conservative has wanted to get done because he was targeted since the day he came down the escalator.

No Republican in the House, Senate or any other place has his FAFO mandate.

But, he’s still dealing with 535 jackals that like to hear themselves talk, who some actually believe Biden won...

Massie is free to pipe up and sing against a guy who’s been shot at for trying to Make America Great Again. He’ll lose that battle of words.

There appears to be some sort of a plan and it’s working on a timeline that Swamp scum isn’t in charge of.

Revealing all the waste, fraud and abuse appears to be part of that plan.
It takes a lot of revealing to move public opinion away from allowing Govt to continue on the same path it’s been.
That public transparency is coming from Trump, Elon,DOGE, two billionaires with a social media presence that dwarfs one KY rep or Kentucky Senator.

These daily updates on social media is probably going to go on till September or onward because your criminal syndicate called govt has been stealing the People’s power through the Treasury, and all those 535 jackals are co-conspirators in that much more than Trump is.

Why?

Because the public sees Trump started his political career in 2015 when he came down an escalator, and he became public enemy number one to the Swamp D team AND the Swamp R team.

Trump is seen as a fixer of what your two parties FAd with. And he was robbed of a 4 year period to continue on what he was building.
535 Jackals kept keeping on.

Fight that if you want with a small Kentucky Rep instead of the Oval Office, Elon and X and DOGE.

Good luck!

“He certainly has a point there. That’s not the kind of spending we need.”

Excellent wise objective words. I am already questioning if we need more obsolete battleships as they are planning to build. Or an “iron dome” that is completely unfeasible, expensive, and useless.

This is absolutely just throwing money to the MIC to keep them in business without any common sense behind it at all. It is right to question this logic and rationality.

I'm sorry, you've misunderstood me; I DO think we need more defense spending, I just mean I want it actually spent on OUR DEFENSE... not everyone else's.

‘Oddly’, I find no such Constitutional authority to hand out Fed. taxpayer $ via “aid” of ANY shape, matter, form or type.

He’s an egotistical ass who cares about himself. And himself. Like Rand, he never offers any actual solutions. Just stuff that I’d kind of like to see but that has ZERO chance of becoming law.

All mouth. No action.

Massie and Rand Paul have never wavered on this principle and have always been consistent.

In Massie's case, this is absolutely false. As the deciding vote on the measure in the House Rules Committee, in the spring of 2023, he was in a position to unilaterally block the Biden-McCarthy deal to suspend the debt ceiling through 2024.

This is a guy who has made a career out of sanctimoniously whining about fiscal irresponsibility, and to make his point he literally walks around with a stupid clock that tracks the federal debt. But when he was in a position to actually do something about it, he had all the fortitude of a wet noodle and voted to basically give Joe Biden a blank check for 18 months.

"Never wavered," my @ss.

and I much appreciate your willingness to stand back and take a look at the whole picture objectively. I really do understand the passion and scrutiny of your stance.

But here is how I look at it. We need to stop spending period, even if it is at a sacrifice. And personally I don’t care how Massie, Paul, or any others “do it” as long as the end cause and effect is less spending. If they do it to boost their own ego fine, there is a more important priority that it gets done no matter what the method happens to be. I’m after that positive end product no matter who it is or how it is manufactured...

So anyone and everyone spending I will scrutinize, and anyone and everyone trying to actually stop the spending will be supported. It is very black and white. and if it is not then it will never actually happen... There is no longer any room for “compromise” or this status quo will just be perpetual as it always has been. John McCain would be in hog heaven over this MIC hand out being pushed right now...

Trump should be offended that they took out everything he wanted. I would let them know in no circumstances would I sign it without what I wanted included. Let it shut down. It will then be on them for not being willing to compromise. And if they override Trump fine, they bought it and all the future scrutiny against it that will be coming from the left. If it harms the economy then it is on them not Trump. History cannot claim that “Trump lied, he saved money by hypocritically spending even more money”.

And trust me... It is coming...

And I think you misunderstood me... I absolutely agree we need to stop defending the world. And if we are going to spend money on our own defense it needs to be on things much more practical and rational. Not antiquated toys for antiquated battle methods or defense systems that are ineffective and useless.

That is just throwing money away to keep the MIC in business. Time to do some frugal and smart shopping... Stop supporting the time honored McCain/Graham “business as usual”.
