Rep. Massie says don't bother threatening my re-election: It doesn't work!
X ^ | March 10 | Rep. Thomas Massie

Posted on 03/11/2025 4:24:20 AM PDT by RandFan

@RepThomasMassie

Someone thinks they can control my voting card by threatening my re-election. Guess what? Doesn’t work on me. Three times I’ve had a challenger who tried to be more MAGA than me. None busted 25% because my constituents prefer transparency and principles over blind allegiance.

@RepThomasMassie

The military industrial complex demands about $50 billion per year in war. As soon as we quit spending $50b per year in Afghanistan, we started spending $50b per year in Ukraine. Watch where the next $50b per year goes when we stop sending it to Ukraine. The MIC is always hungry.

He should run for Senate. Open seat in '26.

Him and Rand could have huge [outsized] effect in 50/50 chamber.

Trump is sending mixed messages which is causing this mess.

Creating DOGE to cut government spending.

Wanting to get power back from the MIC.

While at the same time now supporting spending even more money and boosting the MIC?

Massie and Paul are right to question these mixed messages because they don’t make and sense. Many of us are right to wonder about these mixed messages.

It is flip flopping and inconsistent. He needs to make up his mind and stick to it. It is one or the other. It does this country absolutely no good to cut spending but then turn around and spend even more than we were before.

It is illogical and irrational. They cancel each other out...

The only person here in the 4th District who could beat Massie is Rand Paul.

I’m sure the ultimate AIPAC stooge, DJT, will be told to primary Paul as well.

Miriam didn’t have to launder the $100 million through AIPAC. It just went direct.

Trump is supporting one CR.

Trump needs time.

The CR gets him a bit more time.

Which is undoubtedly why Massie now opposes it.

Trump has a habit of singling people out.
That makes it a personal attack.
If he would just have me over for dinner,
I’d explain it to him.

Massie just needs to ask how Trump plans to balance the budget. He has been sending mixed messages for all his time in office. Nothing new. And it isn’t only one CR.

Sorry. Overly simplistic take. Life isn’t black & white. IRL you need to move towards a goal by taking the best step available. Sometimes that step exacerbates an issue temporarily but it is the best way to achieve your long term goal. There is nothing inconsistent with Trump’s game plan and people that are trying to micromanage each step are acting against America’s long term interest.

Best watch out around here. Talk, like that, that doesn’t go w/ the (R)N(C) narrative & the party/FR fanatics will make sure to take-back/deny you the pom-poms/knee-pads.

Sure is a hoot to see all the ad hominem attacks instead of debating Massie/Rand+ (those damn (L) leaners) on the subject @ hand (IE: ILLEGAL CRs, as Congress hasn’t had a individual appropriation bills/an actual BUDGET in AGES [you know, as is spelled out in the CONSTITUTION]...But just SPEND, SPEND, SPEND like $36T+ is the norm).

So much for the party of ‘small govt’

Except it makes no sense. He ran on wanting to cut military spending, getting out of the wars, and taming the MIC.

Now with this CR there is even more military spending. It risks the image that he has his head up Linda Graham’s skirt... I seriously do not like that image at all and have to question it.

Massie is full of crap. He was in a position to singlehandedly stop the infamous Biden-McCarthy deal in the spring of 2023 that basically lifted the debt ceiling for the rest of Biden’s term in office.

He refused to do it, and gave Biden his blank check.

This guy is a sanctimonious phony.

Both he and Rand have become squishes, outliving their usefulness. They consistently claim to be principled, allowing themselves to be used by the left for political purposes. Their recent obsession over not voting for the CR is typical. They've often both voted for democrat CR's, and they know this latest effort will help the dems if it succeeds.

Principled? Clearly not.

I have this theory that Trump’s strategy is to sign off on the CR that adds $2T to the national debt on paper, while clawing back $1T from the last fiscal year through DOGE and then saving $1T in the next one by canceling contracts and firing government workers.

Time to do what?

Let’s assume that the CR passes because “we a bit more time”. If Trump supports another CR next year because...”We are too close to the midterm election to mess things up”, will you admit that Massie was right and Trump was wrong?

How about after we lose the House because not only did they fail to shrink the budget but also....

1.) They didn’t drain the swamp
2.) They didn’t build the wall
3.) They didn’t lock anyone up
4.) They didn’t deport the illegals
5.) They didn’t release the files

Will you then admit that maybe Massie was right and Trump was wrong?

Oh yes, I am familiar with it. Same with the new God Musk. Blindly follow and never ever question or you are with Satan. It has become irrational, radical, and extreme.

I love Trump and I love what he is trying to do, but I do have a right to wonder about the consistency of his messages and actions. He is going to wreck his own train switching tracks like this too often. Which will do himself and none of us any good. Every time he switches tracks he is handing his enemies ammo to use against him. He needs to stay on track and pour on the steam without deviating from principle.
