Rep. Massie says don't bother threatening my re-election: It doesn't work!
X ^ | March 10 | Rep. Thomas Massie

Posted on 03/11/2025 4:24:20 AM PDT by RandFan

@RepThomasMassie

Someone thinks they can control my voting card by threatening my re-election. Guess what? Doesn’t work on me. Three times I’ve had a challenger who tried to be more MAGA than me. None busted 25% because my constituents prefer transparency and principles over blind allegiance.

@RepThomasMassie

The military industrial complex demands about $50 billion per year in war. As soon as we quit spending $50b per year in Afghanistan, we started spending $50b per year in Ukraine. Watch where the next $50b per year goes when we stop sending it to Ukraine. The MIC is always hungry.

It’s not that he’s wrong it’s that he’s accomplishing nothing by his votes. He’s not constructive. He’s not convincing anyone about anything. He has no ideas that are viable to push the ball forward. He’s just like Europe not wanting to end the Ukraine war using Trumps plan. What is YOUR VIABLE plan?

“I have this theory that Trump’s strategy is to sign off on the CR that adds $2T to the national debt on paper, while clawing back $1T from the last fiscal year through DOGE and then saving $1T in the next one by canceling contracts and firing government workers.”

I get it... And I have also considered that at length. But I don’t know if you did the simple math or not. But that is still a net loss of $1 in the negative... And even worse it is even more money to boost the MIC.

The MIC is Trump’s worst enemy. All the opposition he is getting from congress on both sides is backed by the MIC. The MIC and the CIA is who tried to take him out. It is starting to look like extortion pay...

My plan is...instead of having 1 Massie in the House, to have 100 Massies in the House. That would actually fix the problem and save our country.

Trump, in trying to remove the 1 Massie that we do have, is moving in the wrong direction.

Stand on the side and yell while accomplishing nothing is his plan.

I love Trump and I love what he is trying to do, but I do have a right to wonder about the consistency of his messages and actions. He is going to wreck his own train switching tracks like this too often. Which will do himself and none of us any good
>

I mean, the memory hole of the (R)N(C) vs. Pres. Trump’s FIRST term: “If you send me these bloated ‘budgets’, I’ll Veto”...Promptly signs EVERY BLOATED budget that came across his desk *facepalm*

Political zealots are universal (esp. on FR). Unfortunately.

If Trump and Elon were only as smart as you they could easily accomplish all their goals.

Massie should carry two parts of a broken shovel around to remind all the uniparty diggers that you can’t dig your way out.

“If Trump and Elon were only as smart as you they could easily accomplish all their goals.”

I’m going to ignore that because it is an effort to side step and deflect from the concept and topic of “Consistency” at hand here.

I don’t see any mixed messaging. In fact the message has never, since before Reagan, been so clear. We all better pull together or we lose the country. These sanctimonious types on the hill spouting off and throwing their weight around are very suspicious. I’m starting to wonder if they are as corrupt as most of their swamp peers and is addicted to power.

The outcome in DC is obvious. Better look at the hand we have been dealt in both houses and find a way to get the job done. Or we lose the country and every freedom associated with it. but your principled politician doesn’t give a rip about anything other than his power trip. He doesn’t give a flying fig about you me or even the country. His financial future is set. Just gotta wonder though. Where does this jerk’s mile high principles fit when there isn’t a country left to flaunt them in? Where does he get his next power fix?

My give a damn is shattered beyond repair. I hope Musk and President Trump bury him in his primary. I myself will happily donate to any challenger!

By the time you do that you are an additional 30 trillion in the hole. As it stands you have what you have. That’s the point. He belongs in a think tank. Again, he’s not wrong but having a hundred Massies would mean the freedom caucus is bigger, has more power but still leaves you well short of the votes to gut Medicare and Medicaid or social security. Not to mention the voters don’t want that. He has no viable plan. Maybe Trump talked to him and he said no answer Trump said, what would it take to get your vote and he said, there is nothing you could do. That is not at all helpful or useful in solving the problem.

I absolutely agree. But that is unbiased logic and being unbiased when looking at a situation is absolute heresy. Blindly follow the herd with unquestioned group think or be burned at the stake.

Sometimes that step exacerbates an issue temporarily but it is the best way to achieve your long term goal.

Hair-of-the-dog cure?

“but your principled politician doesn’t give a rip about anything other than his power trip.”

But that is not true. That is not an honest view of the bigger picture. Massie and Rand Paul have never wavered on this principle and have always been consistent.

They stand on this principle even if they end up taking a hit themselves with their own representative state. They are willing to make their own sacrifices to stand on consistent message.

Funny how when Biden was in office Massie and Paul were praised for this stance against Democrat spending. But now that Trump is in they are being thrown under the bus for this same consistent stance.

It is selective dishonest hypocrisy.
