The couple's once in a lifetime holiday was overshadowed when a woman died mid flight and was placed in the seat next to them.

An emotional Australian couple have been left "traumatised" after they were forced to sit next to a dead woman for hours after she died suddenly mid-flight.

Mitchell Ring and Jennifer Colin were on a Qatar Airways flight from Melbourne to Doha, en route to Venice in Italy, when a woman suddenly collapsed in the aisle after going to the toilet.

Not only would I have made it through it, I would have entertained myself by putting the dead person in various obscene poses. 😂😂😂

As long as the corpse wasn’t morbidly obese and intruding into my space, i could probably live with it. Just keep the free drinks coming.

“EBOLA: I think I’d pass.”

Good point! I didn’t think of that.

IMO, they should have plans for something like this. Cruise ships have morgues, for goodness sake.

There is not much you can do at 30,000 feet in the air. Maybe ask those in the back to move forward and place deceased in last row by galley. If the flight is full, that’s the best you can do, right??

I’m sure these passengers were affected having to sit next to the dead body. But what did they expect the crew to do... the dead body should have been placed as discreetly away from other passengers as possible. But I’m thinking if she was too large they couldn’t move her... so maybe that was the issue....

Given a choice of being seated next to a dead person or somebody who is 300 pounds overweight carrying a cranky two year old and an emotional support Yorkie with poor bladder control I think I would choose the dead person.

Well where else could they put her? It's not like they could "Aunt Edna" her on the roof the plane.

We left South Carolina in 2021 and drove through Iowa in 1983. : r/roadtrip

Good one. Haven’t we all?

Did she pay for that seat? Then yeah. Even in death she has a right to it.

If I was a juror in the civil lawsuit I’d vote in favor of a pretty big award to that couple.

Well, I don’t think they could just dumped the body out of the plane, so what do they think should have happened.

Alice Cooper had an experience where an old woman died while sitting next to him on a flight.

I’m hard pressed to think of the cause of action that would justify that and therefore would envision the trial judge or the court of appeal reducing the award

Certainly isn’t unheard of. A fellow who used to work for me had a brother die on a cross-country flight. The flight attendants thought he was having a heart attack when it turned out he had a chicken bone lodged in his throat.
