Hard working Asian young man from the bay area rejected by the 16 top Engineering schools in America including, surprising to me, Georgia Tech. The family has filed a law suit against California schools. In the era of Donald Trump, this is not a good look for these schools. The family has contacted state lawmakers in California but say they got little interest in return. I would think legislators in some red states like Georgia, PA, Wisconsin and Michigan might take a keener interest. I would hope so anyway. Racism is racism and this is a prime example of what DJT is fighting.

I'm from the era when a 4.0 GPA was the highest possible, so what is a 4.4 GPA? Is this out of a maximum of 5?

If so, to be honest, that's not a great GPA. His 1590 SAT score is very impressive, though (assuming that 1600 is still the maximum).

I am not going to opine without seeing his entire college application package. including essays and extra-curricular activities. For all we know, the kid wrote a very dark essay or an essay he though was funny, but came off as offensive. The fact that all of these schools turned him down suggests there is something in his application that all of the schools saw as a negative.

We know a graduate with top grades and honors, with an extra masters degree in medical sciences, and who scored 1590 on the MCAT (medical college admissions test), and was also rejected.

They have quotas against Asians, which are now worse than the quotas against Jews. They have quotas against New York and Philadelphia and in favor out “backwards” states. Some of the Asians are stereotypically robotic and have particular problems getting in.

I have a great nephew who recently scored 1580 on the SAT and I believe he’s been offered a freed ride to MIT, if he wants it.
