My comments on a few of the past Super Bowls:

Super Bowl VI: Cowboys 24, Dolphins 3
That was the single most impressive defensive performance in SB history imo. The Bears defense was just as dominant in the 86 SB. However, that Patriots offense was nothing special and had no stars at the skill positions. OTOH, the Miami Dolphins offense that was totally smothered by the Cowboys Doomsday Defense was really talented, with four future hall of famers. They won the next two Super Bowls.

Super Bowl XIII: Steelers 35, Cowboys 31
The Cowboys probably should have won. The Steelers got a huge questionable pass interference call and Jackie Smith dropped a wide open TD pass.

Super Bowl XXIV: 49ers 55, Broncos 10
The Broncos did not even belong in the SB. They massively overachieved with offensive game plans that were well designed to maximize the skills of Hall of Fame QB Elway. Their defense was undersized and wasn't very athletic either. Like the offense they had well designed games plans enabling them to overachieve. It was a weird era where nobody in the AFC was any good. Any of the other AFC teams would have lost if they had gone in place of Denver.

Super Bowl XXV: Giants 20, Bills 19
The only Super Bowl where the losing team clearly should have won. Thurman Thomas averaged 9 yards a carry but they only gave it to him 15 times. That's because Kelly, who called the plays, kept throwing into Belichick's gimmick defense designed to stop the pass. They often had 9 people dropping back into pass coverage. The Bills went up 12-3 after forcing a safety. They had the Giants on the ropes at that point. After receiving the punt, Kelly throws three incomplete passes, and they punted.

The Bills offense didn't take much time off the clock, because Kelly threw the ball so much into a defense designed to stop the pass, and didn't throw many high percentage short passes. As a result, there were a lot of incompletions. Even their two TD drives didn't use up much time, because they both had some big plays. The second TD drive only took four plays. As a result, the time of possession favored the Giants by 40:33 to 19:27.

By the second half the Bills' defense was already getting exhausted. The Giants had a TD drive to open the 3rd quarter that consumed 9:29. This describes the key play of the drive: The highlight of the drive was a 14-yard reception by Ingram on 3rd-and-13, in which he caught a short pass from Hostetler and broke five tackles by the Buffalo defense to get the first down and keep the drive alive.

They still could have won it anyway if Norwood had hit the 47-yard field goal at the end. Unfortunately, Norwood was bad over 40 yards on grass.

Super Bowl XL: Steelers 21, Seahawks 10
This game featured one of the worst calls in SB history, a phantom holding call that nullified a pass that would have given Seattle 1st down at the Pitt 1 yard line. On another drive, an offensive pass interference call nullified a Seattle touchdown. According to Wikipedia: The officiating in Super Bowl XL was met with criticism from members of the media soon after the game.

My daughter’s husband died two years ago, and she’ll be watching the Super Bowl alone. Invited me over and I’m going.

I never watch football because I don’t understand what the heck those big guys are doing. What the heck am I going to comment on while the game progresses? Maybe I’ll just drink wine and shut up.

Didn’t remember all that about the Buffalo game.

Dam shame.

One record that may never be broken is losing 4 superbowls in a row..

There was a movie made regarding the Buffalo game called Buffalo 66, I think, with Vincent Gallo.

He wanted revenge on the field goal kicker because he ended up going to prison as a result of the missed field goal..somehow :)

Good movie but I dont remember all the details.

The Jets...I was 1 year old when they won.

Followed them since 12...joked around in my 20s how I’d never see them in a SB, in my 30s, in my 40s, ...in my 50s I dont joke..I dread.

GREAT defenses for 4 years...2 in the 80s and 2 under Ryan...QBs SUCKED both times.

As bad as Rodgers has been, he’s still the BEST QB the jets have had since Namath. That’s so sad!

I don’t care who wins Sunday.

I DO HATE dynasties though...they make the game boring.

New England and now the Chiefs.

So I guess I’m rooting for Philly...I like Barkley anyway, he seems to have class.

A flu like illness is sweeping through the Eagles’ locker room. Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jalen Carter, rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, and linebacker Nolan Smith are dealing with flu like illnesses. Others have not been mentioned and the team is waiting for the other shoe to drop with more players affected.

Trump won and that’s all that matters. :)

Saw footage of Josh Allen win the MVP award a few moments ago. I’m sure it’s a bittersweet moment for him despite the honor.

I know everyone else seems to like it, but I don’t watch the gladiators at the coliseum.

A correction for Super Bowl LVII: Chiefs 38, Eagles 35

With the score tied and with 1:54 to play, on third-and-8 from the Eagles’ 15-yard line, Mahomes dropped back to pass. His primary target was JuJu Smith-Schuster on the left side. Smith-Schuster ran forward and faked to the inside. Eagles cornerback James Bradberry fell for the fake. Smith-Schuster then broke left. Bradberry, now off-balance, lightly touched Smith-Schuster’s jersey then barely brushed Smith-Schuster’s hip. Mahomes fired the ball to the back pylon of the end zone, a pass obviously uncatchable had Bradberry never touched the receiver. Before the ball hit the ground, Mahomes was pointing and motioning for a penalty call. Following Mahomes’ order, a flag flew from the sideline. While not confirmed it was reported tha the officials received excellent Christmas presents that year.
