Off the coast of Santorini to the northeast. Quite a few of 4.5 and over. Most estimate at 10 kilometers. This is how the USGS reports when it does not know the actual depth.

Barely noticed on the Island. 4.5 is nothing.

I knew the island's name sounded familiar.

It's the site of the largest volcanic eruption in recorded history, that destroyed the Minoan civilization.

It's not just earthquakes they should be worried about...

Santorini was the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history: the Minoan eruption (sometimes called the Thera eruption), which occurred about 3,600 years ago at the height of the Minoan civilization. The eruption left a large caldera surrounded by volcanic ash deposits hundreds of meters deep.

All these earthquakes could be due to magma moving its way up. If I had property on that island or close to it, I'd be selling it .

You can watch the bug out at the above.

Boy, I think I’d rather fly out than take a ferry right now...

I should include the transcript, because this guy's voice is horrible, but no, I'm gonna leave this keyboard and kick back for my mid-afternoon nap. :^)
A seismic crisis northeast of Greece's famous island of Santorini has led to school closures due to the fact of an incredibly strong and ongoing earthquake swarm. Yet, while this earthquake swarm might initially appear to be volcanic, a deeper dive shows a likely different origin. So, is there a legitimate concern that a magnitude 6 or 7 quake might strike? Can we predict earthquakes? What is triggering this earthquake swarm? This video will answer all of these questions and discuss the ongoing seismic unrest through the opinion and analysis of a geologist.

The shaking continues.

Wowza.

Global Quake on YouTube has got a couple of dedicated insets going now...

The Greek government is saying the quakes are tectonic in nature.

Hope they’re right.

BTW, Episode 8 on Kilauea started last night.

And Iceland is getting close. My money on that one is by Valentine’s Day for the next eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula.

they also advised residents and hotel owners in Santorini to drain their swimming pools
Not a lot of water pressure on that island, will take a while to refill them tubs.
