We just went to our local Wal-Mart in Bluffton SC. Armed security at each entrance. My husband got to talking to one and asked if there was a problem in the store. The reply was NO, it is a new policy and will be from 11am til closing every day. Asked if they are authorized to use force if necessary and was told, “YES” there is a new President, new rules,”.
Has anyone else seen this or has it been a policy at other stores? We were stunned.
You may still find armed security at the Publix that’s at the edge of Celebration.
Years earlier, there was a shootout at the prior Celebration Publix, just across 192.
Is the island Wal-Mart still open? I thought they were closing. The Sams club in Bluffton is almost all “Spanish speaking” customers…….Several months ago, we were there and I had a pork roast. The gal checking us out was obviously Muslim and told me she couldn’t touch my roast.
I carry my own in Walmart... and everywhere else.
Most New Orleans area Walmarts had a local cop car with accessory cop hanging around the entrance, especially Kenner, Metarie etc. Baton Rouge stores too, obviously.
Well I better be ready to show my receipt! :)
If the Walmart has to have armed security then it's close enough.
I lived in Beaufort so I'm pretty familiar with the area.
Word on the street is that ICE was at our local Walmart last week walking up to Latinos and asking for ID. Businesses serving Latinos are down about 80%.
Re “… a new President, new rules,”.
Gotta love it.
I haven’t carried a firearm since I left Little Rock 55 years ago. Maybe I better start hunting where I stored it and make sure it still works.
I remember a bar in Roswell so bad they stopped and frisked everyone to see if they had a gun or knife on them. If you did not, they issued you one before you went on in.
Oh, yes. It’s still open.I was there maybe 2 weeks ago and it ocurred to me that I’ve never seen one of those stores or any type of department stores with trees right in front. The parking lot is treed, too.
I don’t think I’ve ever been inside the store in Bluffton. I thought the Sam’s Club crowd was actually more normal than average. I’ll try to pay more attention if I go tomorrow.
Walmart used to sell handguns several decades ago. That stopped when some man in the Little Rock area bought one at the store, loaded it and blew his brains out at the gun counter.
I returned the following Friday night to a normal density of the regular denizens of the rink. We did have a regular contingent of 5 to 10 black guys who were very fine skaters. Always a pleasure to share the floor and skate with them.
I was at a Walmart in the Spartanburg, South Carolina area this afternoon and was shocked at practically all the LEGO sets now locked up behind glass. No more picking the boxes up and ogling the pictures and envisioning the possibilities.
kinda difficult to fight crime without arms...

Don’t feel bad.
Four out of five Freepers don’t read what they post about.
And you did not read the very next post where I did a mea culpa. So much for for not paying attention.
Great art!
Yes after that length of time without a carry firearm you need some serious recoil therapy my friend. Stay well - Stay safe - Stay armed.
Prescott AZ 3 to 4 pm and i looked for The PoPo ————Quiet as Usual.
No PoPo.
My local Fred Meyer near Seattle started using armed private security at least a year ago.
More recently they installed automated swing gates at each entrance with separate gates for entering or exiting. Also, started checking receipts.
