I would not be the least surprised. Hub watched the whole thing, and said Zelensky was on drugs; he is known to use drugs, looked like meth. Perhaps POTUS was hoping Zelensky would be more rational.

Above are the results of a grok3 look into weather or not Zelensky has made a deal with any other country on minerals besides the US.
Seems there are no deals that have been acknowledged although grok 3 does acknowledge rumors of deals.
If there are rumors of deals they are likely with the UK or China.
One of the rumors was that Z did make a deal with the UK but it's top secret and few know about it.
I can't find any acknowledgment of that.
If that is actually true and not rumor it would go a long way to explain what happened yesterday and why Z thinks he has secret leverage on minerals with the UK/China as his latest target since this guy is a slug,criminal and grifter IMHO.
Even without a minerals deal with anyone Z thinks he is in the cat-bird seat by knowing that Ukraine has trillions,hard to say how much,of rare earth. Unfortunately for him Russia seems to be occupying some of the areas where the rare earth is located.
This alone could light a fire under Z's ass to get someone bigger and better than Russia to get them out of his country. Good luck with that one.
Z knows that if he does not get security,real, written, and acknowledged security, from the US, his minerals deal is worthless as far as Ukraine is concerned.
Z knows that several countries with the money to mine the minerals, which is key since they are not easy to access, are basically lined up to make agreements.

It's hard to imagine Z signs with the US without a security agreement tied to the minerals deal. It's not in his interest and he's barely in power as things are since he is using the war to keep from having an election which he will surely lose if he even runs.
For some unknown reason he thinks he can get the U.S. to get Russia to leave the occupied areas they now hold in the Ukraine which I doubt will happen. He may be snorting a bit too much.
Anyway you cut it, absent the minerals, we never should have had anything to do with Ukraine/Zelensky and should have kicked the CIA out in 2014 before they created all the chaos that likely started all this.

The manufacturer is required to remit the tax he received on his sale but he’s allowed to first deduct the tax he paid when he bought the raw materials. In theory and, typically in practice, and because of market forces, he does this before setting his selling price to the distributor.
The distributor arranges to transport the manufactured product to wholesalers for a price and the distributor charges the tax on that price. He remits the tax on the distributed goods to the feds and is allowed to deduct the tax he paid to the manufacturer. And so it goes through the complete supply chain with the tax never being passed on. The final consumer is the one who bears the entire tax burden with the intermediaries paying tax only on the value that was added in each previous step.
It would be nice if the manufacturer could sell directly to the consumer and eliminate all the “value” added in between.
