WASHINGTON (AP) — The Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, bishop of the Diocese of Washington, said Wednesday that she will continue to pray for President Donald Trump, hours after he lashed out at her over a sermon.
“I don’t consider him an enemy,” Budde told The Associated Press.
“I believe we can disagree respectfully and put our ideas out there and continue to stand for the convictions we’ve been given without resorting to violence of speech.”
Budde made a direct appeal to Trump during a post-Inauguration prayer service he attended on Tuesday, asking him to show mercy to members of the LGBTQ+ community and migrants who are in the country illegally.
Trump called Budde a “Radical Left hard line Trump hater” on his Truth Social site on Wednesday.
“Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job!” he posted after midnight. “She and her church owe the public an apology!”
Referencing Trump’s belief that he was saved by God from assassination, Budde preached, “You have felt the providential hand of a loving God. In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now.”
As the president looked on, Budde said, “There are gay, lesbian and transgender children in Democratic, Republican and independent families, some who fear for their lives.”

You know, I hear statements like this and I always ask the person who is making them “Well why don’t you stop filling their heads full of fear by lying to them? Why don’t you stop reinforcing that fear with your fake hysterical responses every time you hear Trump’s name?”
I have done this in the past, and the response is always angry, contains nothing of actual fact, and is worded in such a way as to win emotional support. My next sentence asks them to, without personally attacking me or deflecting, provide actual evidence of what they claim. They then either attack me anyway, or walk away, or both.
They know that their argument holds no validity... they just want their way and will say anything to get it.

Here in California. That is not what we are experiencing with my daughter’s divorce! Total BS…they go above and beyond to protect the Dad. He broke her wrist during visitation exchange, even with DVRO in place and law enforcement and court did nothing. (This cost her over $1200 in medical expenses and she never could afford the physical therapy).
He is heading toward $25K in child support unpaid that does not include health insurance and sharing in costs for the kids sports or other activities. He will pay a $300 payment every other month when his court ordered support is $1200 for two kids. Try to support two kids on that….she had to move in with us and she works full time in sales. We are their backup. Her Ex is too busy working under the table to hide his income, taking river trips, buying new vehicles and going to pricy concerts. Pretty much disgusting!
My hubbie has serious health problems and dealing with all of this complete bull has taken a toll on both of us. Ignorant comments add to the lie.

I knew a guy in Missouri who was living in a basement so his ex-wife could afford to take her unemployed boyfriend on Caribbean vacations.
He wound up blowing his brains out with a 30-30, one of the few possessions he had left.
