“It’s ok, you can just rebuild.”
“At least not that many people died.”
These are the things people say to try to make it better.
The truth is, Pacific Palisades will never be the same after the deadly January 2025 wildfires that destroyed entire neighborhoods this past week. The latest official update says as many as 10,000 structures have been destroyed in the Palisades Fire, which is expected to be the costliest in U.S. history.
Pacific Palisades, the small ocean community wedged between Santa Monica to the south and Malibu to the north, is a little slice of heaven. Our family was only lucky enough to have a home there because my grandparents bought property decades before the area was discovered by Hollywood. According to my dad, they purchased the home in the 1100 block of Hartzell Street in 1951 for $25,000. The neighborhood has since been home to some of the highest property values in the country, but this week’s unprecedented fires have left it unrecognizable, and its future is suddenly uncertain

They say it will be since the fires have burned up the vegetation that was holding the soil.
Many parts of California are subject to mudslides—but that is because they are on steep hills.
Most of Pacific Palisades is flat as a board.
There is no hills for the mud to slide down.
Yes.
I just watched the Pam Bondi hearings and am so impressed! All the liberals who lost homes looking to move states altogether better not invade Palm Beach! 😠Florida is literally saving the nation right now. 🌴
Excuse my cold tone/ but CA natural disasters are not just “any” natural disaster. Politics is everything and there’s no real compassion without addressing it.
On a video about the fires they were worried about the mudslides coming down on the Pacific Coastal Highway that goes thru Malibu when it starts to rain again.
I saw one of those videos. It’s going to be bad.
After a while, one can get compassion fatigue.
I, too, have a hard time getting a lot of sympathy worked up for people who vote for the kind of results they got.
So much of this disaster is man induced. Almost like it was intentionally done, or at least intentionally taken advantage of.
And I understand wanting to protect your state. I feel the same way about NH and Massholes.
It is hard to imagine having to go through the terrible, horrific situation of losing everything you have worked so hard for. Devastating. How do you even encourage someone who lost everything?
Back in the day ALL OF HOLLYWOOD were conservative, they backed the troops 1000%, they backed the LE 1000%, they made movies that were not smut, they had talent REAL talent, they could act, dance, sing, without sound systems to disguise their lacking of talent!! They were TRUE PATRIOTS who loved this nation!! Our culture has gone to hell in a hand basket HOWEVER the public has had ENOUGH!! I personally believe that CA. has gone way past the point of no return AND NOW with all mail in balloting it will NEVER return!! WE MUST be able to change the mail in balloting situation or it will FOREVER be a 3rd world state!! This last election it was over a month to count ballots and seats we were winning by a wide margin magically changed to Dem ballots after more than a month of counting!!! I don’t know how to change this without a Republican governor a REAL Republican governor!!
that reminds me, we need to pray for really robust RNC Chairmanship. Currently vacant since exit of Lara Trump.
But did they? California is vote fraud central. It's now against the law there to ask for voter ID! Currently 42 of Its Congressmen are Democrats. 9 of them are Republican. Such lob sided representation cannot be by chance.
Pride is a glue that keeps sin stuck to you. Where there is mass hysteria (errant group think) that depends upon pride, there is a lot of that glue:
A cluster that resists truth.
Wise words. I think about that with regard to the homosexual and trans cults. On the other hand, there is hope. We no longer have to run the gauntlet through the Moonies at the airports.
I have a childhood friend who lost her home in this fire. She has lost everything. Don’t know her politics. No insurance, why, I don’t know. I don’t want to ask. Her property alone, without the house, is worth 2 million, plus. So, it is ripe for a rebuild with a new 20 million dollar home with an ocean view. She will need time to clear the lot and get it sold. But this will take time. She now has to depend on charity and family, just to survive.
California has been voting to send billions to a climate change fund, the Paris Accords. If we dare tell them that this was insanity, they would unfriend us, call us flat earthers, disgusting and barbaric, etc.. , just as the president, Biden, has in recent days. All these billions given away will not be used to rebuild this area. It’s gone.
I think the people that vote for good governance have left the state. Now you have good people trapped there. With the poor immigrants from south america, demanding a home, food and shelter. All these displaced people from the fire now compete for an apartment with a gangbanger in it from Venezuela. Thank you, Joe Biden. And the cost to survive, food, going to McDonalds will be like going to the best restaurant.
They call me disgusting because I wanted our money to help our citizens. And now, they need the help. It’s a horrible lesson, that you better take care of your own.
“.. of losing everything you have worked so hard for...”
Sounds like a lot of them are trust fund babies who inherited houses and probably a lot more. Don’t know hoow hard they had to work for that. Limosine libs.

And priority one for the Democrat party this morning, is send more taxpayer money to the Paris climate accords.
Where is Al Gore this morning? Sitting in his 50 million dollar seaside mansion, getting his pension checks from the US senate and VP office??? While his fellow citizens wander the streets looking for food, living in a tent.
The global warming scam continues. Our President citing it just in the past few days as the cause of all of our problems. Not him pissing away our money.
She worked hard. She had a great job. Her parents were poor.
She was house wealthy and cash poor.
Lesson learned. A house is not an investment. If she put all her money into stocks and rented an apartment, she would be worth 20 million. Not holding a 2 million dollar patch of land.
The sad thing, time goes by, and now being older, much harder to get a job and make money. Many of these people, this fire is a catastrophe. Their homes were all they had. Many had business in the area, now burned to the ground. Many of them hard working people.
