To all my fellow Freepers who live in California,
Especially those in the Los Angeles area,
I'm monitoring the out-of-control fires that are raging in your area. My heart breaks for you all.
The scenes I am seeing look like a Biblical disaster. A small nuclear device would have done less damage. The entire LA area looks like it will be utterly destroyed.
I'm leaving out any discussion of fault, that is fodder for another thread. This thread is simply to wish you all well. Please remember, your life (and the life of those you love, including pets) is of paramount importance. Material goods, while important, are not as important as your safety.
As you can, please check in and let us know you are safe.
For those who have not yet understood how bad it is, please see this video, which is a shot someone took who was flying into LAX.
Heartbreaking. My prayers are with you all.
You keep digging.
Look I don’t care what you say and I’ll hold no grudge nor even remember who wrote this smarmy crap to me later.
So God bless and take care.
Nothing personal.
And don’t let the media manipulate you.
It’s really bad where it’s happening.
But all of LA isn’t burning down, it’s not an apocalypse.
Be reasonable and analytical and avoid the hyperbole and hysteria they use to manipulate emotions and thoughts.
Prayer is good.

We’re good where I’m at but we can sure smell it.
Safe and far away from the fires. Surrounded by concrete. 35,000 gallon pool in the backyard. Lots of wood on the outside of my home. Craftsman style home. Torrance, Ca.
Re: 154 - spot on, thanks for posting.
Amen
What part of CA does Jim live in?
Hopefully you have a good powerful pump that can spit out at least 5000 GPH at your roof level. 10,000 GPH would be better.
(Mine is 6600 GPH.)
Safe and sound here in Flagstaff as we left LA July 2005.
Slightly dated, but a good rundown on the fire-fighting effort(s);

Fresno. 5 hours north by automobile... N, NE of LA, reached first, by using the I-5, and then CA Hwy 99.
But the anger is intense!! SO MANY are mad when they realize that the WATER hydrants went DRY!!!!!!!!Why? Because our Demonic Governor refused to address the water issue and protected an " endangered SMELT fish".... that cost homes, and lives!! Something MUST be done. I am 83 and never seen fires like this...
Thankyou Lazamataz for the thread. There are many many from Southern California that are hurting tonight...
I'm personally exhausted, but grateful power has been restored.
Glad you’re ok

That area is where so many of my friends live... and a cousin. I lived 10 minutes west, in Eagle Rock for over 70 years.
Three friends lost their homes last night.
One friend is out of the country right now on a " work and witness" team from his church. So sad!
Re water supply

That, plus, for most of the swimming pools:
Swimming pool drain has a “T” with a “municipal leg” that runs to a location near the street’s edge, thence up to a “dry hydrant.”
oh NO... I didn’t know that! WOW... We used to go to Lake Ave. Church just south of there a ways....sigh
Checking in here Jane.. power was off until tonight!.. I posted an update here.
Is it about NOW . . . that the liberal media are usually screaming: "Where is the President of the United States!?"
thank you. Me too!!
