And I am old enough to have traveled in the car with Mom, Dad, and sister and seeing those signs.....
Fun thread! Thanks Laz
and TY Judy for heads up.
Loved those signs growing up on trips
It was a joy to produce!
usconservative and I got in a one-up-gamesmanship on it, and sadly, I have to grant him first place for this gem:
The Scariest One,
Was Named T-Rex,
With Arms Too Short,
To Have Self-Sex!
Burma Shave!!!
But, I definitely claim ALL the second-place prizes!
Nice ones! Thank you.
LOL, Laz, thank you.
Yours are most excellent.
My grandfather actually sent one in to Burma Shave, and was awarded a real $5 bill for his entry. ($5 was worth something back then) The signs were along a highway in southern Illinois.
“Whiskers long
whiskers short
whiskers off
without a snort!
BURMA SHAVE
That has a similar cadence and subject to Deep Purple’s Strange Kind Of Woman:
There once was a woman
A strange kind of woman
The kind that gets written down in history
Her name was Nancy
Her face was nothing fancy
She left a trail of happiness and misery
...and he didn't know it!
The meteor ended your reign
What a pain.
But as Darwin would say
Hope for another day
Like the Cambrian Explosion
Burma Shave
An asteroid is coming!
Everything will die I fear,
Then hiding in the shallows,
The Crocs will say, Hold my beer.
BERMA SHAVE
A peach looks good
with lots of fuzz
but man’s no peach
and never was
Burma shave
You left your footprints
In the stones
but all we find now
Are your bones
Jurassic Shave
My favorite!!
Your thagamizer
Killed one man
The rest of us
put you in a can
Jurassic Shave
We pump black goop
out of the ground
But we really wish
You were still around
Jurassic Shave
I knew when I saw this it would be hilarious and have not been disappointed. Thanks Laz.
