Elon Musk Endorses Post Suggesting Americans Are Too ‘Retarded’ To Do Skilled Jobs
Mediaite ^ | 12/27/2024 | Charlie Nash

Billionaire Trump surrogate Elon Musk endorsed a post on Thursday which suggested Americans were too “retarded” to be hired for skilled jobs.

After the South Africa-born CEO of X, SpaceX, and Tesla found himself embroiled in an argument over H-1B visas and the importation of foreign labor over American workers, a pro-Musk account wrote:

So basically the right split into two factions, tech right and right right, and the tech right is like “hey we need h-1b visa people to do the jobs,” and the right right was like “no you need to hire americans,” and the tech right is like “but you guys are retarded,” and the right right is like “well you don’t train us,” and the tech right is like “you can’t outtrain being retarded,” and while all this was going on we learned some people *really* don’t like Indians.

“That pretty much sums it up,” replied Musk, mere hours after defending one of his engineers who posted a series of racist, anti-White rants. “This was eye-opening.”

That pretty much sums it up.

This was eye-opening.

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 27, 2024

On Thursday, Musks’s DOGE co-head Vivek Ramaswamy also received backlash after he suggested companies were not hiring Americans because they were raised in a culture of “mediocrity.”

President-elect Donald Trump announced last month that Musk and Ramaswamy would lead the newly-created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) – an announcement praised by many of Trump’s allies and supporters.

In the wake of remarks made by both Musk and Ramaswamy this week, however, many Trump supporters have begun to express concern over their involvement in the second Trump administration.

Musk’s X is now shadow-banning people against the Indian invasion.

Which part is propaganda? Strip out the author’s commentary ...

Seriously? The author's commentary IS the propaganda.

Do we need more H-1Bs? or fewer? I say "fewer" but some people disagree, and that's politics.

But this author is all about "tech right" and "right right" and Trump supporters think Americans are "retarded" and on and on on.

The TONE is the propaganda.

My questions are:
• When one person gets an H-1B, who/how many are permitted to piggy-back on it?
• If no one is allowed to piggy-back on it, how do family make it over?
• If the H-1B holder is the one with the needed skill, what are their family bringing that we need? (Because where I live, I see spouses, kids, and (grand) parents.
• If they are just bringing themselves, is the H-1B holder supporting them or do they apply for taxpayer-funded benefits from the government?
• Are H-1B holders permitted to apply caste/class customs from their country of origin against their co-workers?(Hiring and social practices, for example.)

He’s speaking in too general of terms. However, he’s right about one thing. Our education system doesn’t educate. It indoctrinates. I’ve been retired now going on ten years, and even back then, it was rare to hire someone straight out of our learning institutions without having to further educate them on the job for at least another year.

In some ways, he’s not wrong. If gamification of learning can help kids learn more and quicker, there may be merit with it.

Just have to ensure the quality is there.

Reading isn’t all that hard. Writing can be.

In your original post you gave an opinion without context, much as if I said, “In my limited observation, lion tamers are cowards.”

If your opinion was based on professional experience it wouldn’t hurt to say so.

Being a really accomplished computer professional is no more difficult or notable than being an excellent building contractor or dentist. The “whiz kid” myth is pure media created bullshit. The “whiz kid” from India, even more so. Musk is trying to save money on his payroll here.

..we learned some people *really* don’t like Indians.

Indians really don't like Indians! The social caste system is alive and well in India, and it will blow you away when you actually see it in person.

There’s no question we don’t have enough skilled craftsmen, welders, plumbers, electricians, etc. We used to have lots of them but trade schools were de-emphasized and the line that everybody “needed” to go to college was pushed.

Meanwhile people who are skilled in the trades can do quite nicely for themselves.

Too many Americans are just like Kamala Harris. They want a position but are too lazy to become qualified to do it. They think they are entitled to a position because education wise they meet requirements but are too lazy to apply themselves. I have seen to many times where someone can pass a written test as a pipefitter but couldn’t fit pipe. The same goes for other trades as well.

Very misleading of these bottom feeder blogs to mischaracterize the post as “anti-white”. No idea where that came from. It is an indictment of the whole American educational establishment. The post does not single out any race.

BS.

Programmers don’t receive political indoctrination. That can be true of liberal arts, but the sciences are too competitive to waste time on it.

As to the supposed inferiority of American education, I found this interesting comment written by an Indian Mathematics PhD from the University of Ghent.

“Look at the number of Nobel Laureates (and other international awards, number of papers published etc etc) and the answer should be crystal clear.

“Indian High Schoolers and College kids are forced to memorize a lot more stuff, which ends up compromising their creativity. Getting AIR-1 etc does not mean someone was smart, it simply means someone can give the exam well (and when the competition is down to the last mark-chance ends up playing a huge role). They may have more factual knowledge, but can do far less original work (also their factual knowledge is in the wrong places, too much classical physics and alchemist chemistry, to say nothing of the despicable med entrance biology)

“We are light years behind, and until we develop a system that is not meant to cater to the average, we will remain that way. Higher Education in India was designed to supply clerks to the British, and sadly it remains that way. Even new Universities with better ideals were corrupted by the same mentality.

“If you define better to be- “more factual knowledge”, I’d say Indians are light years ahead up to a certain point, but for the top 500 folks in the country, say, US would either break even or beat us there (Compare performance in the International Science and Math Olympiads). And if I’m to look overall, no we are light years behind (since half, no 99.99% of Indian students are barely competent enough to work in a proper lab.)”

Oh, tut-tut.

ClearCase_guy, you have it all wrong. The tone the author of this thread is going for is the “blood-sucking billionaire” Marxist, Leftist tone.

The person isn’t interested in all about H1-Bs, the relative merits of Indian Tech workers vs. American Tech workers and all that. That is all window dressing for the Marxist “blood-sucking billionaire” agenda.

Get with the program!

Bottom line is Elon is not wrong in that the US does not produce enough STEM workers for our needs. We can argue about Indian v Asian but the reality is he is right about our ability to meet our needs with just American graduates. Americans choose easier paths. This is not surprising. Elon is also thinking BIG and his vision will require orders of magnitude greater amounts of STEM engineering types. If the US can’t supply them now, we should not be held back by that fact.

What Elon needs to point out is that massive deportations and a better immigration system will more than offset some increases in H1-B’s.
