That whales became land creatures and then went back to the sea is one of the strangest ideas in evolutionary science to me...

They don't explain the steamy purpose they think the hind legs had. They also don't say anything about how it tastes.

Maori science is evidently more advanced than western science.

Vestigial structures like this are considered remnants of evolution, demonstrating that they once served a greater purpose and, while now reduced, there’s not been evolutionary pressure to lose the trait entirely.

This all sounds very definite in the case of an animal they admit to knowing very little about.
