But surprisingly, a few of those foods are actually among the most disliked by the younger generations once the festive season rolls around.
A new poll by of 2,000 adults who celebrate Christmas, carried out by Aldi, has found that those born in 1996 or later are apparently “turning their back on” traditional favourites in favour of festive dishes with some sort of “modern twist”.

Christmas pudding with brandy butter is phenomenal!
Haggis and scotch; bag the haggis and drink the scotch. then try the haggis if so inclined and well oiled.
I don’t like cranberry sauce (it’s a textural thing), but ai’m more than eilling to eat everything else on that list.
Mmmm, mince pie...
*I’m more than willing
There used to be a lots of songs written about the seasons, weather and being outdoors but not so much any more. Maybe because we are inside so much.
But I do agree with you. Lots of attempt to stir up contempt for Christmas or any celebration which includes families getting together. I don't think all of it is deliberate. I think people just forget that families are made up of people who are occasionally annoying and exasperating but overall worth the time and effort we put into them and we get a lot more then we give.
I love fruit cake. Even the cheap logs Walmart sells.
Turkey is good. Otherwise they are spot on. The rest on that list are gross.
Its an issue of bad parenting really.
If you raise your kid on nothing but microwaved chicken nuggets and boxed macaroni then dont be surprised when your kid grows up to think these are gourmet dishes. You also shouldnt be too surprised if they are sickly and develop other issues.
I dont know what this is really like in Britain right now but look at the some of the stupid holiday food trends being pushed by various influencers and the media today. Some of these new things are just disgusting and will be thrown overboard but I think the better old things will continue for a good while just maybe with a few additional things.
I love fruitcake. YMMV.
Thanks for the simple but delicious recipe!
Fruit cake is a scam. They only made a few about 20 years ago and we take turn giving it to each other. But lots on that list are bad in my opinion but really TURKEY?
“None on the list I hate, though as a kid I hated brussel sprouts, but I love them now if grilled”
Thin sliced, seasoned, add copious amounts of Bacon......yum
So true. I grew up thinking things like Brussel Sprouts, green beans, broccoli were not done until the boiling water turned green. No wonder I grew up not liking that stuff.
I don’t eat the breads and desserts or sugar but everything else is tasty.
Everybody loves roast turkey ... right?
😱🤣🤣🤣
My niece makes dinner for all of us. I have tried to suggest otherwise, but no...Brussel sprouts are a staple for her, with sugar, maple syrup and bacon on them. In fact she pretty much puts sugar in everything. I try to eat only a little when there, and eat when I get home.
A typical comment when the wife and are perusing the menu at a new restaurant: Oh, X has bacon, that *must* be good!
I do like oven or pan roasted Brussels sprouts with real bacon bits.
