I was reading up on what happens if you have too much voltage for available wiring. Not good.

Charge time is great where are you going to get a grid that can handle that many amps being drawn, add a dozen or 2 dozen… more

Then add the power needed overall, if the grid can handle it, where will that power come from

We ain’t got enough unicorn farts and fairy dust to pull this off

Got me, I just read an article the other day talking about the 10s of billions the government owes nuclear facilities for disposal of spent fuel rods.

“I was reading up on what happens if you have too much voltage for available wiring. Not good.”

EV charging cannot cause voltages to be too high for the wiring.

You can already charge the batter to 85% in 15 minutes on the right supercharger.

About the time to go to the bathroom, and get a coffee and get settled back in your car.

The life of the traction motors should be the least of your worries. Brushless and lifetime bearings.

Nope

I was talking about other drivers. I have seen guys walking on highways with a gas can in hand. I am also driving since 1960. Never ran out of gas. But one time came close driving in boonies, we had hard time finding a gas station. But fortunately made it to one before running out of gas.

Imagine charging your electric car in just 15 minutes..

Imagine me filling up my gas tank in 3.

Wouldn't most people be charging it at home when you're not going anywhere?

The average driver drives about 35 miles per day. At 250 watthrs per mile that is about 9 kwhrs. That would take less than 1 hour using a level 2 charger or about 8 hours with the 110v supply.

Electric cars might be useful in 50 years.
But not today

This electrolyte also faces multiple challenges. In the forefront of those challenges is their sensitivity to moisture. The electrolyte and water exothermically react to form gasses such as H2, Cl2 and HCl which causes cell expansion/distortion and reduction in performance (lower Coulombic efficiency, irreversible decay of capacity). The end result is an unstable cell, safety issues due leakage and corrosion, and more complex and costly manufacturing requirements.

So this is established technology what Musk is using? Or has he solved a few of these problems?

If I had a dollar for every time a battery breakthrough has been written about, I’d be.......well, not Elon, but I’d be able to afford a Tesla.

at a subsidy by the Boring Company of $2.50/ride x 700,000 rides, that’s a $1,750,000 loss to the Boring Company ... i guess i don’t see where the 100x savings is you claim is ...

700,000 rides is only the beginning. The Las Vegas council saw it’s worth enough to have them do the whole thing.

The costs of other companies boring are much greater than the Boring Company. Upwards of 1.5 billion/mile in New York and $400 million/mile every where else.

https://tunnelingonline.com/why-tunnels-in-the-us-cost-much-more-than-anywhere-else-in-the-world/

The Boring Company can do it for $5 million/mile, or 1/10 the cost.
