No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
New tagline.
May All here have a great forever and safely elude all diabolicals, deceptions and my posts. (:•}
My true wish and prayer is: May All enjoy today safely and every day which follows.
Good morning. First day of school at CPCC and UNC-Charlotte. It’s all going to be very interesting.
Gorgeous!
Good Monday Morning!
Another weekend that seemed to rush right by... Guin seems to be almost back to her self at this point... just trying to minimize the rough housing between them for a bit longer...

Today Wordle was reasonable... not great, but okay... yesterday was another story... never heard of the word, got it in 5 by just typing in letters at that point...

You as well!
Good morning. Happy Monday!
I, too, have an “all” at the end of my ping list. I don’t know if I ever thought it actually worked that way. It was my way of saying, “If I forgot you, I meant to ping you. Please forgive me.”
We had some good rain on Sunday. I wish it would rain on Saturdays because Sunday is my mowing day. The grass is getting such that 2 weeks between mowings leaves it a bit long.
Not a great start to the Wordle week, but there it is.

I had heard of yesterday’s word (got it in 4) but I didn’t know what it meant. So I looked it up.
It sounds gross. I’ll pass.
I know, when I looked it up, I was glad that I had never heard of it before! 😂
Ev’rybody wants to be a cat...
In technical terms, the ring gear and carrier assembly is supposed to be concentric with the drive shaft holes and seals in the differential case; held there by conical roller-type bearings at each end that run in races pressed into the inner sides of the case.
Here, the bearing on the passenger side, at least, has collapsed: the rollers are missing, as is the “cage” that keeps them spaced evenly around the circumference of the bearing. So the inner race that once played host to the rollers has likely been grinding on the outer race that resides in an inner recess in the differential case. At some point something made an escape from that mayhem, shoved past the passenger side seal, shoved the sealing bushing on the drive shaft outward by more than a half inch, and headed for freedom, like a 20th Century Romanian in a life-or-death bid to get West across the East German border.
[I know. I’ve met a few. Harrowing tales my mechanical issues don’t rise to equal. You grew up knowing vaguely it was real, and you saw some representations in the movies, but none of that prepares you for talking with living escapees.]
All of this settles into a dark pool of foreboding down somewhere in the thoracic recesses south of the stomach.
But I shall make a few phone calls, and we shall see what is to be done; who shall be enriched and who shall be impoverished and what shall become of this automotive phoenix I call my own.
Happy Monday... Beautiful weather so far. Didn’t get shot at downtown Minneapolis... so I guess that’s a good start.
Picking up the other Honda later today. Probably after the rain starts... Trailering it, so that isn’t as uncomfortable as it could have been.

We hear the sound of the treat jar being opened!
I’m not sure whether you’re describing motor vehicle repair or reading horse entrails.
Ahhh, drive train issues... for some reason I thought that it was an engine issue... I was wrestling with getting my shredder drive shaft connected to the PTO drive earlier today... very over simplified analogy though! Even though in the midst of it it seemed like a broken part would defeat me today... finally got it done...
