No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Hotter, but still very nice, today. At least nearer the water. Inland — toasty. Getting very toasty.
Red Flag Alert — expect to go up in flames any second.
Fear. FEAR. FEAR!! Aaaaaahhhhh!!!
I’m so done with it. Morons all.

Finally a good drive off the tee! Only took me 7 holes to get there... Beautiful arc up and the right distance to drop it about 20 feet from the pin... luck was with me and a nice break to drop it in for the Birdie 2...

Hole 7 tee shot was solid, but not great. Switch to a 7 iron to drop it on the green and finish off with a short putt...

Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
I’ve been to the dentist. I will have to have one crown replaced and one new one. Oh, well. I don’t need money, anyway.
This hole started off with a literal bang. I should have had the same score as Z-man, but I hit the wide bunker right before the green. I chipped out of that one only to land in the one to the left of the green. I chipped out of THAT onto the green, but in my frustration it took me 2 putts to sink the ball. I got a 5 on Hole 7 which I believe puts me at 28 for the round, or 1 over.

Back to my driving issues on the 8th hole... got on top of it again and ended up with about 150 yards of roll and bounce... at least it was straight down the fairway...
Clean drive with my 3 wood got me within 50 yards of the cart path with a nice lie... a nice arc off my 7 iron dropped me onto the far left side of the tiny green leaving a challenging, but doable, putt for the Birdie 4...

Good morning. Happy Friday!
It’s still plenty warm here and plenty humid. Another gullywasher went through and washed out our gullies. We don’t really have any around here, but if we did they’d all be clean.
The landscapers are here removing things. The Princess is very excited. It’s no longer a dead town, at least for today.
As lousy as I played yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised when my firt drive landed me just as close to the tree line on the left as I could get without being in trouble. a nice bounce left me a great line onto the green. I managed to hit it where I was aiming it and landed just shy of the hole. An easy putt gave me an eagle to make up for yesterday’s double-bogey. I believe that puts me at 31, or back at 1-under.

Loooong hole today...
Kind of a sloppy shot out of the tee box but it took my usual left-handed slice to the left and set me up nicely for my next shot. With the distance, stayed with the 1 wood to drop within chipping distance of the green. Decided to go with a 7 iron and glad I did as the distance can be a bit deceiving. Good landing and roll on the green set up the easy putt.

There are stupid people, and then there are lethally dangerous idiots.
Advocating rail traffic follow Emerson will get lots of property irreparably destroyed, and probably kill numerous innocents.
This level of irresponsibility ought to be prosecutable.
I would probably agree except it’s California. You’re probably the only person in California who can recognize irresponsible behavior even when it jumps up and bites them.
If we only knew the masses who perished in utter denial that they did anything at all wrong...
