No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
w00t!
And nice recovery from that first shot.
Thanks, thanks!
Taco Tuesday... Yum...
Downtown Minneapolis this morning. Traffic was stupid and parking is deficient by every metric. But, this client is kind of nice and the work isn’t especially taxing...
Hole 5. Solid but uninspiring shot off the tee, drifted just a bit on me. Switched down to a 3 wood to try and pin the ball at the right-hand dogleg. Dropped it right where I was hoping... just shy of the bunker on the turn. Took a chance on a 7 iron and dropped it right on the green for a tricky but satisfying putt.

Crystal clear, blue, sunny and just about PERFECT today. Visibility is unlimited, there is a light breeze off the Pacific, temperatures are in the mid- to upper-60s — it’s the kind of day that makes the artificially high cost of living in California ALMOST worth it.
Almost.
That may help with crafting realistic narratives. I’ve been going with limited past experience, and my actual numbers are a bit more like dimly lit guesswork.
Outta the deep crease here on 5 I got my best drive of the round, so far, getting excellent distance straightaway center to set up a line-of-sight second shot to try and make the green. Still 130-160yd out I pulled a 5-iron, put the ball into the air and watched with no little satisfaction as it found the fore of the green, bounded across, trickled to a stop, and left me with a put less than 10 feet. No tap-in, my read on the cant of the turf was solid, and I put the distance and the arc on it to sink the Birdie.
So I improve my score to a 2-over 22.

Well played!
That chart will come in handy, thanks!
I’ve just been watching the virtual tour and then try and match them up to how my guesses run...

Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
It rained a little this morning. It’s now warm and humid.
Mrs. ArGee is going to an appointment with the dentist she selected. She doesn’t really trust dentists. We’ll see how this one does to reassure her.
I decided to try my knowledge of my history and actually aim right toward the water. True to form, I hooked it just to the left of that small sand trap about 3/4 of the way down the fairway. Surprisingly enough, my next shot put me right on the green about 4 feet from the hole. The ball looked like it would pause just on the lip of the cup, but managed to roll in as I let out my breath.
This birdie puts me at 23 for the round, or 1 under.

Good Midweek Morning!
For the first time in a long time, the temp stayed just above the dew point early this morning so the puppies didn’t come in with sand all over their feet... grateful for the little things!

My driving troubles persisted at the 6th tee... maybe at some point in this round I’ll hit a good one... playing the 2 wood from about 75 yards from the tee I got off a good one and with a couple of nice bounces it rolled to a stop on the apron... a long putt for sure, but a nice break and I am walking away with a Birdie 3...

Happiness Humph Day...
Hole 6... Water on one side and bunkers seemingly everywhere.
Started off with a cautious shot down the middle of the fairway. 3 iron dropped me just short of the uphill bunker. Tried switching to a 7 iron and ended up in the bunker just to the right of the green. Chipped it uphill of the pin with a wedge and watched it roll back into the cup.
