No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Well... looks like I survived the tsu-nothing.
Pulled a rabbit outta the hat on the Wordle today, too

I read that tides were over a foot higher than average.
Good job on the Wordle!
And eat them all.
Yeah... that might be enough to close the “bar” for smaller craft at a few river mouth ports along the coast. Generally it’s less than the storm tides typical of this coast, so not many people were impacted.
One of the constant issues up on the delta is saline water invasion up-river. The fresh water intake to one of the big, regional drinking water utilities is vulnerable when river flow is low and tides are high, so the tsunami condition could exacerbate that issue, but California generally sends plenty of water out to sea, so it’s only a very peripheral concern.
Don't think it would work with ours. A few years ago we had to make new locking tops for the fish tanks so as not to have to deal with wet cats and traumatized fishies on a regular basis.
No, I haven’t seen that. Seems like that sort of think I could live without, but it’s a cute concept.
I have a temporary crown in place. I should have a permanent one installed in about a week.
When ever you discuss the traffic problems I envision that guy from “Office Space” who can’t seem to get ahead of the guy with the walker.
Not nearly that bad, nor as frustrating... Especially when I’m on Abby...
Hope that the PM return ride was nice as well!
Thanks for the recommendation, I look forward to it!
Glad to hear that it was a tsu-nothing!
Good show!
I didn’t realize that they are still burning…
I have a Canadian friend in our weekly Zoom Bible study who says many of those fires are the result of arson.
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
We have rain for the realtor’s photo shoot. Hopefully they can go forward anyway. The goal is to have listings up for homebuyers by early next week.
The temporary crown is holding. I didn’t have much pain after the Novocain wore off. I just have to remember to keep all the heavy chewing on the left side until next Wednesday.
I used up all my Wordle luck yesterday, it seems.

I have zero doubt over the veracity of that claim. Of course, the communists are claiming its “climate change” and anything else is just a conspiracy... Until they end up catching people starting fires... most of whom are trying to use the fires to prove... climate change.
I hate humans some times. Very discouraging.

Not sure what the temps got up to because being so dry it didn’t feel bad at all... That is a well taken care of cat...
