No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
We did indeed get temps in the 80s yesterday. It is guessed to be a little cooler today.
We have almost all the paperwork ready to begin probate. The lawyer is waiting for a form that certifies the heirs list. It can’t be anyone who stands to gain so Mrs. ArGee gave it to a cousin. Now she has to check up on him.
I’m researching what papers to keep, what to recycle, and what to shred. Who knew this could all be so complicated?
I did OK at Wordle today. The starter word gave good hints this time.

Good show, it was a tricky one!
Good Morning!
The foreguess is for us to get above 90° for the first time this year... a bit of a heatwave in the near future, but today’s 95° seems to be the high mark for this wave...
So-so on the Wordle front today...

Interesting pattern. The ends slowly crushed the middle.
Yes, it was…. IIRC yesterday I had a completely symmetrical pattern… all the way down to the fifth row….
Slow start to the morning. One meeting down, another later on while I’m on a client site. Good day to ride though.
Picked up a new front tire and some tools to help dismount/mount the tire and balance it. Need just 2 more tools, 16mm hex head 3/8” drive for the axle nuts, and I should be able to change my own bike tires. This saves about $150 a year for $50 investment in tools and an hour or so in time.

Snowing here. 80° a couple days ago.
I am in the camp of doing everything that you possibly can for yourself…. Saves a lot of aggravation in addition to the dollars….
Drastic change!
Snow after temps in the 80s. That’s gotta hurt
There’s a reason I figured out enough blacksmithing to make my own nails/hinges/tools.
That is something that I need to learn, my MIL still has a working forge…. I need to make some time for her to give me some training….
My grandfather could forge square nails. He could also forge a chain. It wasn’t fast, but it was fascinating to watch.
As a beginner project, I made two different nail headers... Makes 4 different sized square nails. Used a car coil spring for the base steel.
A nice, temperate, sunny day around The Bay. How “temperate” depends...

The utility of a good starter word can’t be overstated; mine took me more than halfway, today.

Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
It’s guessed to be a cooler day today. That’s probably because The Princess is scheduled to be groomed. As warm as it’s been, she’ll probably be happy to shed the fur.
Today is youngest ArGee’s birthday. She moved to Tampa without telling us. Being ghosted by one of your children is a tough thing. I keep hoping she’ll grow out of it, but the signs aren’t good.
Wordle was a little tough today.
