No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Have an enjoyable trip...
Thanks, I’m hoping for it. My fallback option is renting a car and coming home to do housework!

Thank you so much! And a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the UT Moms, UTers who have moms, et al.
Probably a lot, just for the halibut har har.
Good morning. Happy Monday!
We are done with all the rain. We had some significant ponding but no flooding. Today I walked The Princess in 45 fs but the high is guessed to be 80.
In-laws left behind 2 big oriental (Persian?) rugs. Based on the requests from their children, we’re going to have to cut them up.
My Wordle scores were up and down this weekend. Today is more down. But to be fair, those were two pretty useless letters to get first.

Happy Monday. Hot and Sunnt on tap for the next couple of days... have a bit of a mid-week cool down and a chances at rain on Thrusday.
Had an OK weekend. Went for a long ride on Saturday and miss timed the return. Dusk is not a good time to be riding this time of year as the bugs are just THICK at dusk. Rode through clouds of them and had to wash the bike on Sunday. Just... eww...

I rode briefly as a youth in Florida. We had these things called “love bugs” then which could really, really make you wish your helmet had a face cover.
They had special screens to put over the front of your car as the swarms could turn your grille black. They have been declining in recent years.

Good Monday Morning!
Sort of a lazy weekend, didn’t get all that much done... quiet Mother’s Day dinner since most folks were otherwise occupied, just Mrs. zz, M-I-L, and I... I cooked up a simple spaghetti & meatballs dinner...
Tough Wordle outing for me today... a real struggle session...

We don’t have those, but we go through a lot of windshield washer fluid from now until the late Fall if we are driving anytime from dusk onward... and some bug & tar remover on the front facing surfaces at least once per week...
I remember those from my time in the Carolina’s and Texas... My intrest in motorcycles is recent though.
It certainly looks like fun!
Certainly when the sky is that blue.
👍🏼
A little rain this morning to liven up the plants after a weekend of mid-80s.
Had a nice dinner with Mom on Sunday.
Getting that one letter into that one position was a big key to this result.
