No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
But I feel fine ...
Somebody had to say it...
😂
Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
There’s nothing like starting the day thinking the process that ran last night for work might have gone awry. I’m waiting for people to get back to me. Fun times.
It was a little chilly this morning, 25 fs, but we got through it. The Princess is hoping for warmer weather because she gets groomed today.
We got a lab report yesterday saying her liver function is still good. So we’re backing off her morning steroid again. I hope we can get her completely off soon. She must get tired of getting pills poked down her throat.
I finally got to make up some ground on my Wordolf game. I decided that all I had to do was drive straight to miss the water on the left and the sand on the right. So I dared to strike hard and it actually went straight. A second drive put me very close to the hole on the fairway and my short game did not fail me this time.

Good Morning!
That is a sight to behold!
Good Morning!
We had an almost all day road trip with our new pup... he only threw up twice so it wasn’t too bad... we had plenty of towels and wipes...
For the 6th hole, I ended up hacking my way down the fairway and somehow got on in three... pretty easy putt fell in for the birdie four...

Good news for the Princess! 👍🏻
Woke up with a headache and 27 degrees. Supposed to hit 52 this afternoon. Stood there looking at the thermometer thinking, “Why do you hate me. I really wanted to ride this morning because it is supposed to be nice this afternoon.”
*sigh*
Nearly flubbed the t-shot and I’m thinking of trading up the Titlist for a Ping driver. Next two shots had me ping ponging from one side of the rough to the other. Switching up to a wedge got me a VERY lucky roll on the green for the hole.

The competition remains fierce on the front nine.
Ping to #2569
It does? Neat... I like fierce...
Woke up with a headache...
I don't suppose that it is allergies yet up by you... I've been getting a lot of nasty sinus headaches from the raging pollen around here...
Speaking of...
I was looking at some of the other older worksheets in the Wordle golf spreadsheet...
'Face was kicking our butts on those rounds...
Indeed. Some amount of lucky guesswork or a really amazing starter word or both were really helping her.
It’s nice that with wordle/golf you can shovel snow from your driveway in the morning, and still get an eagle on the front nine.
She was a real Wordle whiz back then….
Day One in my new office space. The building was built 5yrs ago. The prior office was in a building converted from a motor pool shed shortly after WWII. VERY much nicer space, but parking is a bit of a hike.
If I came up long on yesterday’s par 3, I made up for it today on this booming 497yd par 5 6th hole. Gunning it off the tee I drove the sweet spot straight through the ball for a towering shot — one of those where you hardly even feel the ball on the face of the club, and it just explodes into space. Over 300 yards later I stood in the middle of the fairway, not 200 yards from the pin, and gambled on a commanding 5-iron stroke to get me fully onto the green. The gamble paid off with a bounce off the backside of the hill ahead of the green that propelled the ball two short hops and a brief roll deep into the heart of the green, even with the pin, a scant 6ft to the left. My putting game, hit-and-miss thus far this round, was a hit earning me an Eagle for the hole.
With 23 strokes on the round, I walk on air to the 7th tee at 2 under par.
