No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
We had frozen pizza.
Nice
Hi Nully! I’m not getting them removed.....can’t afford it. Even better, the place that I have lived for 17 years was sold and I have to move. That’s a whole ‘nother can of worms. Thanks for the thought though. :-)
LOL! Cats definitely do that.
The box is, tautologically, sufficient for its purpose.
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
We still have dark skies and rainy weather, but at least we didn’t have any snow flurries.
Mrs. ArGee is finally getting the crown put on her implant this morning so her dental travails will be over (for now). Hopefully there are no surprises from her visit.
She has managed to get this Sunday taken care of for her mother, so the pressure’s off at replacing the caregiver who quit on Sunday. Now to make sure the rest of the weekends are covered.
I was a bit too conservative on the drives trying to avoid the big lake and the sand traps around the green. I was too far from the flag when I hit the green on the second drive so it took two putts to sink the ball. I think this puts me 2 under for the round.

Mernin’ all...
25 now.. working from home first half of the day.
Flubbed the t-shot... but switch to a 3 iron with good results. Chipped a 7 on the the green and tapped a short putt in for the hole.

Good Morning!
Seasonably warm, sunny and dry for the next couple of days, then a foreguess for rain to end the week... we certainly could use some...
I wanted to stay out of the water so I played it safe off the tee and stayed on that strip in between the trees and lake... took me two fairway shots to get on the green and a longish putt to get the bogey four...

The color of Mrs. ArGee’s crown was off. So she isn’t done with her ordeal yet.
I guess having the tooth color match is important. But I know she’d like to have already been done.
I’m very sorry to hear that. My mother went through a lot of difficulty with crowns.
Ouch!
Sitting at home working with the back slider open to a sunny day, blue skies, warm breeze, greenery... It’s just a nice Spring day.
I led off the 5th tee with a 3-iron over the water, playing it to the right of all the sand traps scattered around the green. I got the distance I wanted, rolling to a stop a little to the left as you face the pin with a lie offering a short chip on. I made the green OK, but pulled up well short of the hole, and my first putt across the undulating surface swung wide to the right, sod I had to settle for a 2-putt Bogey.
On a course of this caliber, I suppose I should be happy playing par golf, but... c’et la guerre.

That was an interesting effort, but you succeeded, so it’s all good.
We had “mock competition” for Envirothon today at the county park. Perfect day for it. Some of the students also did archery, while others did magnet fishing. (Nothing really exciting was fished.)
Results on the testing were pretty good to very good, depending on the team, and everyone now has a week before the realsies regional competition to improve in their week areas.
So, if they don't get a ruling they like from the judges ...
They can throw them in the lake wrapped in chains.
Cat with thumbs? We’re doomed! Doomed I say!
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
