KEY POINTS

* A rebrand unveiled by classic British car brand Jaguar drew the ire of many on social media this week, as the company prepares to relaunch in 2026 with only electric models.

* Jaguar, part of Tata Motors subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover, said the redesigns “preserved iconic symbols while taking a dramatic leap forward.”

Jaguar is dead man walking if it thinks that becoming all-electric is going to save them. People are wising up to general impracticality and expense of EVs.

“ Sad thing is back in the early 2000s I owned a REAL Jaguar XKR convertible. Was an amazing vehicle. These EV things? Not so much. They’ve ruined the brand IMHO.“

At that time, Jag was owned by Ford. My 2003 Thunderbird has a Jag V-8. Ford learned its lesson with E-pickups. Jaguar isn’t paying attention.

Jaguar as a car has finished its run. It is owned by an Indian car manufacturer..(Tata). It will probably be spun off. Maybe to some company like McLaren, or Koenigsegg
Commercial was an attempt to advertise LGBTQ+ brand (marketing loneliness, and sad personality disorders of that brand) before Jaguar goes insolvent

“JaGUar? Luxury automaker defends controversial rebrand amid pivot to EVs”

let’s see how the JaGUar C-suite feels about this a year from now ... assuming there is even a JaGUar C-suite if/when JaGUar declares bankruptcy before then ... JaGUar sold only 66,000 total new cars last year, so how low will they go before they’re totally kaput?

quite frankly, i find this whole episode to be the ultimate wokeism, freakshow, slow-motion, self-destructive corporate train-wreck yet ... and it’s gonna be great entertainment ...in fact, i’ve got to go make my first batch of popcorn for this first episode of this awesome new show ...

So they are going EV, well goodbye Jaguar then.
The purpose to own a Jaguar, is fun and excitement not own a boring car that is now a EV with no horsepower under the hood. Lord is Ferrari going to go EV also???

““the level of vile hatred and intolerance” expressed by some people commenting on the marketing video”

apparently this guy didn’t learn in Marketing 101 that advertising campaigns should definitely avoid provoking “vile hatred and intolerance” amongst their potential customers ...

What year? Some of those Thunderbirds were just plain awesome!

You are correct: Jaguar really stopped paying attention. Sad.

Compare and contrast faguar’s globonegrohomo ad campaign with Volvo’s recent 3-4 minute ad and see how selling a car on its merits and safety beats whatever the hell they were trying to do the other day

“I helped a buddy adjust the clutch on his bosses early 1970s XKE. It literally took us ALL day.
Those 12 cylinder Jags sure were pretty, BUT they were a nightmare to repair and keep running. Like all of those British Leyland products. They were all mechanical nightmares.”

i have a friend who was a professional auto mechanic who owned one of those ... it had three carburetors, all connected up with a whole series of finicky little wire-like rods ... he was constantly tinkering with them to get the damn thing to run ... he finally sold it ... i think he drives an Element now ...

“People are wising up to general impracticality and expense of EVs.”

indeed ... i can’t imagine that there’s that big of a market now for an unreliable “luxury” EV selling for $100,000 by the time an EV JagUarTata is in the showroom, assuming JagUarTata can even get one off the drawing board before they go bankrupt ...

I had a friend who always said the British sports cars like MG & Triumph were the number one reason why the Mazda Miata was such a great seller. Same size, similar performance, fun to drive and they ALWAYS STARTED.

An even better car was the second version of the Toyota MR2. The mid/rear engine Turbo 1.8 liter MR2 they came out with in the 1990s was a great little car. They are highly sought after today. There is a guy who works in the office next to mine that has one. He constantly gets people asking IF he will sell it.

I’m glad they are finished. Most of their cars were shit. Too expensive to repair, too undependable to daily drive.

As an MBA & former officer in a $400M corp reporting to Chairman on Strategic Planning/New Business Development, it’s clearly obvious this guy is an absolute leftwing indoctrinated idiot.

It still amazes me any company would do this after the destructive “BudLight marketing disaster”.

“and they ALWAYS STARTED.”

my first car was a 1970 Mach I; after that, my number one criteria for a new car was that it would always start when you turned the key ... my second criteria was that the brakes would work ... my 3rd criteria was that replacing ALL the spark plugs would be easy ... my 4th criteria was that ALL the hydraulic valve lifters could be replaced without first removing the engine ... and so forth ... in fact, my final criteria was that i would never, ever buy another American car in my lifetime ... it was a very good lesson owning a 1970’s piece of shite American car ...
