Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California expressed concern during a recent interview about his son’s interest in right-leaning figures like Joe Rogan, Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson.
Newsom spoke to Bloomberg for an interview published Sept. 7, in which he focused on the topics of AI and its implications for governance.
During the interview, the outlet asked Newsom whether he had talked to his children about potential issues surrounding AI.
“I had a very serious conversation with my oldest daughter about the chatbots on Snap,” Newsom responded, before pivoting to a discussion of his son’s interest in online content creators that many Democrats denounce as dangerous right-wing extremists.
“I really worry about these micro-cults that my kids are in,” the governor told Bloomberg. “I say micro-cults because I don’t know if there’s a better way to describe it. My son is asking me about Andrew Tate, Jordan Petersen [sic]. And then immediately he’s talking about Joe Rogan. And I’m like, here it is, the pathway.”
Andrew Tate is a masculinity influencer and former professional kickboxer facing charges in Romania for rape and human trafficking, Joe Rogan hosts the popular interview podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” and Jordan Peterson is a clinical psychologist and the author of “12 Rules For Life.”
All three have been widely accused of radicalizing young men by turning them away from progressive values.

And there is NO RESEARCH behind that. The fact of the matter it is easier to put that statement there just to reduce liability. Proving it didn’t can’t be done.

A what? We have masculinity influencers now? That would make one hell of a resume entry.
It wouldn't take a great deal of self-reflection for Newsom to realize that young people who "turn away from progressive values" do so because those values are worthless, ridiculous, and harmful.
I have always found it interesting that only California, as far as I know, sees fit to issue warnings. It’s a good thing, though, because packages would be covered with them.
You ever notice that no matter the outcome, the faith-centered thinkers always say those words? Had Trump been shot and Kamala now President-elect you would have followed that exact statement with something like “God’s judgement on the sinful couldn’t be more clearer”...blah blah bla? I’ll say it again...God does NOT interfere in the affairs of man. Man does what man does according to his free will and content of his heart. God is just watching the show and eating cosmic buttered popcorn.

You need to commune often with your Creator and get to know Him personally. Yes, regularly pray and talk to him, then concentrate while meditating on your concerns and listen for His response, you will be amazed what your inner self hears or perceives. God’s people are being called everyday by Him to serve in untold ways. May I suggest that you pray as often as possible in this critical time for this country, for Trump and for his inner circle that God will bestow His Devine wisdom and protection on each and every appointee as they embark on God’s most historic calling to restore His Republic to the greatness upon which it was founded as one nation under God. God is much more than an indifferent observer of His creation.
There was a much more fitting line from the movie Slap Shot, a comedy about three real life hockey playing brothers.
