While checking out at Trader Joe's recently, my cashier mentioned that frozen foods are the specialty grocer's "bread and butter," and boy, was he right. Of all the many reasons that shoppers love TJ's, from affordable prices to top-notch customer service, the California-founded grocery chain has a freezer section that puts others to shame.

I believe the Mandarin Orange Chicken is one of the best-selling items in the store.
Cooking at home is the basis of family life.
The Mandarin Chicken has gone downhill a bit lately - I think they’re trying to hold down the price.
I’m a fan of the Lamb Vindaloo.
Vindaloo industries?
This week, I even cut up a whole celery...small for sandwiches, med for soup and large for pot roast/stew. I'm becoming compulsive....but at 80...you don't care...lol
Their croissants are almost like homemade.
Even when I was single I’d cook big batches and intend on having leftovers the next day and something for the freezer. I rarely found packaged meals appealing - usually they were either too bland or too sugary or too salty or all 3. This was some years ago but i’ve not revisited since.
Processed ready-to-eat food loaded up with chemicals to make it resemble real food is a high margin product.
For those that are cooking challenged HelloFresh and Everyplate are pretty good. They take about 30 minutes and you have to work at it but that’s what makes it kind of cool.
Just more expired food re-dated by Trader Joe.
“ Cooking at home is the basis of family life.”
There is a place for both
I cook enough food for leftovers for at least 2 meals.
We keep our fridge pretty cold, about 34 or just above the freeze the milk stage.
Food keeps a LONG time at those temperatures.
Also, now that the weather is getting colder, I put food I’ve just cooked out on our enclosed porch to cool. It’s not winterized at all, but it is animal proof, so I can cool stuff down really quickly and well out there and then put it in the fridge. I think that helps with the shelf life. in the fridge.
I cut lemons in half and freeze them...so always have on hand...better than bottled.
We’d happily buy frozen meals, but all of them seem to be primarily pasta, potatoes, or rice. Plus a ton of additives.
I never thought of that.
They freeze well, do they?
Because sometimes I find good deals on them in the store but we don’t use them a lot and so they sometimes sit in the fridge for months.
Although, the rinds can get pretty dried out looking and they’ll still be good inside.
Their frozen seafood is good quality for the price.
They freeze wonderfully!! You can thaw them but I just throw them in the pan...I’ve never wasted a lemon since I started this. I buy the 2 lb bag. I sometimes cut in slices, too.
Sheesh, just buy frozen patties. It takes minutes to cook them up and you can have a fresh hamburger.
Honestly, people are so stinking lazy these days.
