Authorities in South Carolina on Thursday warned residents to lock their doors and windows after more than 40 monkeys escaped from a research facility.
The primates broke loose from a Alpha Genesis facility in Beaufort County and traps have been set up and thermal imaging cameras are being used in an effort to locate the fugitive monkeys, the Yemassee Police Department said in a statement.
In an update posted Thursday, police confirmed 43 rhesus macaque primates escaped and none had been captured as of early afternoon. Authorities said the primates were "very young females weighing approximately 6-7 lbs" and had never been used for testing due to their age.
"Alpha Genesis currently have eyes on the primates and are working to entice them with food," police said, describing the monkeys as "skittish."

I hope that if they’re caught they don’t get a spanking.
There is plenty of food for primates there and comparing a “cold” city back home like Shimla to Bluffton shows they arent that far off.
Tomorrow they announce that one was male.
Two decades from now Savannah is renamed Ape City.

And ‘Fury’.

In Italy a woman dresses like a woman. They dress feminine. They are not covered in tattoos or piercings.
Did they vote Democrat?
Do the South Carolina authorities warn about the urban thugs running lose?
Ditto
This has to be deliberate. What fresh hell will this yield?
LOL
Why does it ‘have to be’ deliberate?
Probably nothing will happen; but possibly sick or dead animals who can’t survive out there.
I remember something similar happening in Florida and SW Missouri. The government slipped one night with suppressed sniper rifles and cleaned them all out, much like Big Cities do when there are too many deer in their area.
Actually the point I was trying to make is are they possibly infected with some virus that could be passed on to humans. If not, why issue directives for folks to stay inside and keep house closed up.
Because even perfectly healthy monkeys can be very dangerous. Unless a monkey has been habituated to you over time, handling it or finding it in your house could lead to serious injury - especially research monkeys who are used to a very set routine and familiar faces, and find themselves lost out in the world.
Anyone who sees a monkey in the ‘wild’ in the U.S. should stay away from it.
They’re not anything like a stray dog or cat that you might find.
Couple of days late to start an outbreak...
