Why does the political establishment hate Trump?
American Thinker ^ | 1 Nov, 2024 | Richard Thornton

The short answer to that question comes from George Orwell: “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” Packed into that pithy aphorism is the explanation of the bitter struggle centering on the person of President Donald J. Trump.

The dirty little secret of American history is that a largely left-leaning establishment has dominated our politics since 1932 and thereby framed our understanding of the past and goals for the future. Only two Republican presidents have held temporary majorities in both houses of Congress since then: Dwight D. Eisenhower and George W. Bush. Neither made a dent in the establishment’s control. Indeed, during the past thirty-eight years, since the political establishment kicked President Reagan upstairs and out of power in the Iran contra scandal, the political establishment has taken the country farther to the left than ever before, centered on the policies of détente with Moscow, Beijing, and Iran. In the process of attempting to create a new world order, the Democrat establishment left behind and totally alienated the American people.

The beneficiary of this widespread alienation was President Donald J. Trump and Republicans, who in 2016 swept to power across the country with strong majorities in both houses of Congress and a mandate from the people to reverse course. Trump led the way, attacking the Democrat establishment’s narrative of the past and setting forth a new vision of the future. “Make America Great Again” is more than a campaign slogan; it is a repudiation of the past failure of the political establishment.

It did not last.

Trump lost control of the House in 2018 and fell victim to a Democrat counter-revolution in 2020. In less than four years, demonstrating a level of incompetence unknown in modern history, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris...

Its not hard to see why. They can’t control him and he threatens to derail their gravy train - and dramatically weaken their power.

Not sure at this point Trump can do all the article states. After decades of leftist control of the media and academia we have become a country where probably close to half our citizens are ashamed to be known as Americans. We have taught our children that perversion is normal and that our founders were horrible, selfish men who created a dreadful, evil country responsible for all the ills of the world. That is taught from the womb to the grave not just in books and lectures, but in TV/movies, advertising, and popular culture. It has become the underlining, sometimes unspoken, but often shouted from the roof tops, meme of who we are as nation. Listen occasionally to those on the left who are paid handsomely to spew hatred of America.

That will not be reversed by one man sitting in the WH for four years. That will take decades if reeducation and renewal at all levels of the nation’s psyche. Can it be done? Possibly, but it will take a willful commitment to weed out and clean up our educational system and those that control our media. It will take an unwavering commitment to change the national discussion and the general atmosphere. I grew up in a country where Americans felt special, lucky and proud to be Americans. A country where we felt we could accomplish anything. A country where hard work and good morals mattered and were rewarded. Today we live in a world where hard work can be trumped by a whole list of government approved physical and mental characteristics. Where many are at least slightly ashamed to call themselves Americans. And where our belief in what we can accomplish as a country is tempered.

We are not the America I grew up in or that Donald Trump grew up in. Can we become that country again? I have my doubts. We gave up our birthright a little too willingly. The left won’t give it back without a fight.

The Democrat vision of how the country should operate and of America’s place in the world lies in tatters, a catastrophic failure.

The result of Democrat vision certainly does lie in tatters, but the trouble is they don't recognize or acknowledge that. It's like the first step towards recovering from being an alcoholic is to admit to being an alcoholic, and I don't see that happening with the Democrats.

Sadly, I don't think 4 years is nearly enough time to "drain the swamp". I hope I'm wrong, but and I'm not holding my breath.

Its not merely that our bloated, leftist-woke government elites have set up deep and long-standing channels of corruption and financial graft for themselves - rather, along side that, over many decades, this system has created for itself the moral and quasi-religious justification for its existence.

“We rule because we are moral and right-thinking, and because we are moral and right-thinking, we are elites”

This collectivist, self-reinforcing “hive mind” is much harder even to break simply removing the sources of graft

Beczukse he is a mirror of decency which, when the left look into, they see their reflection and see how ugly their reflection is, and it enrages them that he is exposing their vile demonic hatred. The hatred for pres Trump truly is demonic

Because if he gains power again, there’s gonna be a deep dive into corruption. They’re all guilty, and they’ll all be exposed — and maybe prosecuted.

They didn’t fight him hard in 2016 as they were certain Hillary would win.

2020 was another story. They had to go shock and awe on him to protect themselves.

Tucker Carlson laid it out last night. When President Trump was elected in 2016, he came to Washington with all this hope to turn things around. He relied on “Republicans” like Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan (not mentioned, but was a part of this) to help him find people to surround him with and push his agenda. They failed him because they were part of the establishment.

This time, President Trump is coming to Washington with his own team, and he knows who’s who in the DC establishment. He’s going to clean house of people who don’t have America’s interests at heart. The McConnell/Ryan wing of the “Republican” party is toast. Look at how they tried to pull the rug out from under Kari Lake. The days of that crap will be over.

This time President has the rats in both ships in DC running scared.

Thank you for referencing that article MtnClimber.

"Why does the political establishment hate Trump?"

It's called follow the money.

To get a grip on why the political establishment hates Trump, we need to go upstream to the 16th Amendment (16A; direct taxes). Consider that the very corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification (17A; popular voting for federal senators) Congress's abuse of its 16A powers is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for organized crime imo.

More specifically, post-17A crook politicians long ago discovered that they could promise ordinary voters who have probably never really studied the federal government's constitutionally limited powers (hint) every unconstitutional federal social spending program under the sun to get themselves elected. More and more constitutionally low-information voters take the bait and elect the crook politicians.

Then after the crooks are in office, they fulfill their constitutionally indefensible campaign promises by abusing their 16A powers in order to establish the unconstitutional federal spending programs that they promised to voters on the campaign trail.

Are we having fun yet? 8^P

Misguided voters with too much voting power must ultimately take responsibility for unconstitutionally expanding the powers of the constitutionally limited power (hint again) federal government imo. Caveat emptor (let the buyer beware).

Since Congress and renegade states have repeatedly proven that they are enemies of the people imo, it is now up to Democratic and Republican Trump supporters to effectively "impeach and remove" ALL (exceptions?) state and federal lawmakers and executives in November.

In fact, it's up to us Trump supporters to take the first MAJOR step in draining the swamp by supporting hopeful Trump 47 with a new, Constitution-respecting Congress, new state lawmakers too, not only so that he will not be a lame duck president from the first day of his second term, but will support him to quickly finish draining the swamp.

Supporting Trump to finish draining the swamp includes supporting him to put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes by leading the states to repeal 16&17A, effectively "seceding" ALL the states from the unconstitutionally big federal government by doing so.

Finally, let's not allow the anti-Trump media try to fade our memories of what we witnessed on July 13.

Our political establishment hates Trump because his voters do not agree with or accept the fruits of the progressive revolution which got under way in earnest in 1913. We don’t accept it and we want it destroyed.

No one except Trump appears to wish to execute the wishes of Trump voters. Whether or not Trump wants, or is even capable, of doing so is undetermined.

But they hate him because of us.

The DC establishment has run up a 35 trillion dollar debt. They enriched themselves in the process. Inflation is the symptom of being on the brink of bankruptcy. When the dollar collapses we all go down. Trump is our last best hope.

"...rather, along side that, over many decades, this system has created for itself the moral and quasi-religious justification for its existence..."

That. Right there.

I was trying to explain the Deep State to my brother last night, and it isn't a formal cabal of a group of people. It is more like a union, all of like mind, who know they won't be fired, and are glad to do their part to contribute in some way to, as you eloquently say it, a "Hive Mind" mentality. (I have long used that term "hive mind" to describe the actions of the Left)
