The Collingswood (NJ) Police Department posted a statement to its official Facebook account last Monday after the Haunted Hayride in Knight Park, New Jersey had to be shut down after hundreds of juveniles swarmed the attraction.
For the safety of those in attendance, the decision was made to shut down the hayride and manage the crowd. Police officers, event organizers and mutual aid officers escorted families away while addressing the individuals involved in the altercations. While doing so, police received a report from a Wawa location "involving 50-70 juveniles taking over a store."
Authorities wrote that responding officers found the group of juveniles "stealing items and causing a disturbance." The convenience store was closed "to prevent further damage and theft."
While managing the situation at Wawa, officers received a request for assistance from the remaining officers at Knight Park. Upon arriving at the park, authorities said they found a group of about 80 juveniles "engaged in a massive fight and were met with resistance from youths punching, kicking and pushing past the officers to continue fighting."

Maybe they were just dressed up as juveniles for Halloween.
My Grandparents on my father’s side lived on a quiet street in Collingswood. I never asked my father if he grew up there, but I suspect so. My childhood and teen year visits were to a pleasant community with friendly kids in the neighborhood.
My last visit there was for Nana’s funeral, back in the late 80s, I think. It was still nice.
