HOUSTON — A Katy woman was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 22, because Houston police say she's been posing as a dentist.
Angelica Vivas, 46, is charged with two counts of dentistry act violation, a third-degree felony.
According to court documents, Vivas performed a complex root canal on a woman even though she was not a licensed dentist or oral surgeon.

Yes indeed. Drill, baby, drill!
Well, did she do a good job?
Wetback comedy. ROTFL! I’ll bet the stuff written in Spanish was funnier than hell too.

no reference to anything else, like immigration status?
Oh great. Just yesterday my dentist referred me to an endodontist for a root canal. I’m definitely going to check his credentials first.
the type JD Vance once spoke about...
Bingo. She was likely a dentist in her home country and her current clients are the same ones she had back home.
Been there, seen that. Voted on a grand jury to bill against a foreign dentist doing exactly that.
I had a root canal last week. I learned that the extremely fine tapered barb used to remove the nerve is referred to as a “file”
I didn’t need to know that! Haha (See my post above).
The Nerve of some people!
I’m sure they’ll dig that out.
lol
Authorities need to dig deep on this one.
I wonder how it went. I have to actually read the article now :)
This is the real issue, isn't it?
Licensing by the state is supposedly for the purpose of preventing injury to the citizenry from incompetent work. It also artificially restricts the supply of people who do such work, thereby benefiting everyone who has state approval.
This state licensing business has expanded across many different disciplines, and both the State and the existing businesses benefit from it. The State gets revenue and power, while the individuals in the various industries get state protection from their competition.
For several years now, I have come to question whether state licensing is a good thing or a bad thing, and there is quite a lot of evidence for the bad side of it.
Perhaps Medical care is so expensive because the state artificially restricts the supply?
What's going on with my home town? Used to be a great place to live and raise a family.
Is it safe?
I wonder if someone who pulls their own teeth can be charged with dentistry act violation? Lol
File?
Dentists also use a “burr”, much like you’d use on a car’s cylinder head—just smaller.
I know...... He said “It’s a file” rather than burr
