The CIA analyst who triggered Trump’s first impeachment asks: Was it worth it?
The Washington Post ^ | Oct. 20, 2024, 5:03 a.m. ET | Greg Jaffe

The young CIA analyst waited anxiously for Fiona Hill to pick up her phone. He had dialed her, he recalled, because he wanted to hear a familiar voice and make sure he wasn’t doing something “colossally stupid.”

Five years later Hill’s memories of the call are still vivid: the CIA analyst’s voice, which sounded uncharacteristically emotional; the annoying clatter of the Frappuccino machine inside the Starbucks where she was waiting for her morning coffee.

Hill stepped into the parking lot. She was on vacation in Hawaii, having just resigned a week earlier from her job in Donald Trump’s White House overseeing Russia, Ukraine and dozens of other European and Eurasian countries. She and the analyst had spoken often as part of their official duties.

Because they were talking on an unclassified phone line, the analyst had to be vague. In the weeks before Hill left government, she had become concerned that figures close to the president, including his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, were trying to pressure Ukrainian officials for personal and political favors.

“Something else happened on that thing you were worried about,” the analyst told her. The time had come, he said, for him to do something “extreme.”

“Oh dear, oh dear,” Hill recalled muttering.

The CIA analyst would soon submit a meticulously sourced nine-page memo to the U.S. intelligence community inspector general that would spark Trump’s first impeachment. In Washington and around the world, the analyst would be known as “the whistleblower,” a moniker that he didn’t choose and has come to see as a burden.

In the half decade since his complaint kicked off a political firestorm, the analyst has declined all requests to speak publicly about his actions, even as he has reckoned privately with whether they...

Perhaps you could post an article that is not anti-President Trump.

Eric Ciaramella is the treasonous Deep Stater who was part of the attempted coup of a sitting President. He needs to be held accountable.

Ciaramella was a politicized operative in the CIA who created a narrative for the Dems in Congress to use to impeach their common political enemy. The sleazy Washingtom Post creates their phony narrative making this stupid kid a conflicted man of conscience.

I’ve posted plenty of them in my 26 years here.

I miss the days when you could come to FR every hour and there would be dozens of new articles posted, and in those days there weren’t any precious snowflakes too delicate to be exposed to anything they didn’t like. Rush Limbaugh spent most of his showtime on gaslight press content. I am no Rush Limbaugh, but I get bored reading things I agree with all the time.

My goodness. What a ponderous combination puff piece on this POS and throw-it-all-at-the-wall attempted hit piece in Trump this is. I can’t say I read it all.

What I can say first is that we all know his name. I don’t care enough to go back and look but it’s Italian and begins with “c”. Here the Post continues to treat his identity as sacrosanct. Remember Roberts would not allow it even to be mentioned at the impeachment trial. The permanent (though ineffective) shielding of his name is not sanctioned under the law. And compare the treatment of him to the treatment of whistleblowers such as the Hunter IRS whistleblowers who have come forward since, including the FBI whistleblowers. They haven’t exactly been accorded the same respect and
deference .

Which bring me to my point. Libs have what I call “insufferable self-righteousness “ this joker has it in spades. They really do believe their own BS. That’s why we must not become complacent. We must crush them on 11/5 because, to paraphrase, I think C.S. Lewis, their consciences fully approve all the wretched and dishonest things they do

I suspect that the real reason Mr. Trump was impeached, was that the D@mocrat party couldn't afford to have a Republican president take an interest in Ukrainian corruption...

I for one, want to know what’s rattling around in our opponents heads, it’s like having a copy of the other team’s playbook.
Keep posting them despite the snowflakes.

The IC Inspector General only has the power to receive and investigate complaints regarding activities and individuals under the authority of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

The President of the United States and his actions are most assuredly not under the authority of the DNI.

So Ciaramella (sp.?), as IC IG, had no authority even to receive the allegations, let alone “investigate.”

Hill has deliberately smeared President Trump and
his advisors with the criminal activities of the
Obama/Biden administrations. The Post/NYT will do or
say anything to protect their pet DemocRATS!
Curses be upon them!

I find them encouraging these days because it is so obvious from their level of hysteria that we have them on the run.

Little POS was literally a spy embedded in the White House targeting the president. And he was reporting to Fiona Hill, a Brit. Yet ANOTHER foreigner infesting our foreign policy.

And what did they get for it?

Biden DESTROYED Ukraine.

The level of hysteria the gaslight press is exhibiting is actually encouraging. It means we have them on the run.
