The sums are huge this side of the pond. Cuts needed in the billions. In the US, it's in the trillions.

Its a complete mess and I dont think people are quite ready for what's needed to even balance the books.

Are you prepared for it?

Trump will likely win but his term will have many challenges. He will have to make massive cuts to services.

Apparently, Elon Musk is going to be hired to bring about "efficiency savings" in government.

They should make it a cabinet level rank and let him work.

We have to take on the entitlements. But we can't cut Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid. Not yet anyway.

We should cut our military by 50%. We need a strong navy while reducing the size of the military elsewhere.

The Federal Government now spends more money on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, interest on the National Debt, and defense than it collects in taxes. So without cuts to those categories, even if the government totally eliminated all other spending, the budget still wouldn't balance.

These massive deficits in spending every year, by every president of late, has kept the system barely functioning. The only ‘growth’ we get now has been massive deficits and debt, and Republican and Democrat voters show no interest in stopping that spending.

Trump and Harris aren't running on cuts to spending, both will contribute to game of massive spending. Whoever is elected, will probably face a credit downgrade in early 2025, probably faster under a Trump administration. I know republicans will yell and say its not fair, but life isn't fair. These debt bombs to the future generations isn't fair either.

There is no line item veto.

Dems and RINOs pile on the spending with pages of amendments.

The president is stuck with all or nothing.

If congress is still packed with spendthrifts, not a lot will change.
