Where Is the Fierce Urgency of Beating Trump?
The New York Times ^ | Oct. 12, 2024, 7:00 a.m. ET | Maureen Dowd

Barack Obama got blunt in Pittsburgh on Thursday. He chided Black men who are not supporting Kamala Harris, saying that some of “the brothers” were just not “feeling the idea of having a woman as president.”

That left me mulling again: Is Harris in a dead-even race against a ridiculous person because of her sex or is that just an excuse?

Hillary Clinton did not lose because she was a woman. She lost because she was Hillary Clinton. She didn’t campaign hard enough, skipping Wisconsin and barely visiting Michigan. She got discombobulated about gender and whinged about sexism.

I asked James Carville if Kamala’s problem is that too many Americans are still chary about voting for a woman, much less a woman of color. The Ragin’ Cajun chided me.

“We’re not going to change her gender or her ethnic background between now and Election Day, so let’s not worry about it,” he said. “Time is short, really short. They need to be more aggressive. They don’t strike me as having any kind of a killer instinct. They let one fat pitch after another go by. I’m scared to death. They have to hit hard — pronto.”

Her campaign, he said dryly, “is still in Wilmington.”

Kamala spent a week answering questions on “60 Minutes” and “The View” and on the shows of Stephen Colbert and Howard Stern. And she didn’t move the needle.

“She needs to stop answering questions and start asking questions,” Carville said. He thinks that, for her closing message, she should put the issue of Jan. 6 and who won the election on the back burner.

Instead, he said, she should ask:

“Fierce urgency”
“Beating”
“Dead-even”
“Time is short”
“Killer instinct”
“I’m scared to death”
“Hit hard”

...All are dog whistles for another assassination attempt.

......

You are absolutely correct

Yup. MoDo lost her juju after Michael Douglas dumped her. CZJ didn’t steal him from her. Douglas was dispatched by Hillary to divert MoDo from bashing Bill about Monica. He accomplished his mission and moved on to greener pastures.

“Kamala spent a week answering questions on “60 Minutes” and “The View” and on the shows of Stephen Colbert and Howard Stern.”

That’s a week?

That’s what? An hour, fifteen minutes, then 10 minutes a piece

Those spots are on shows so inane and leftist, TDS that the viewers are already 99.9% voting for her.

Dowd is surprised she didn’t move the needle?

She has to be nuts. What Trump voter or independent is going to watch any of these to see this silly woman and then change their mind?

They are either resigned to losing this or they’re planning either an October outside shake up or are moving operations to post election- that’s most likely

Dowd is probably aware of how silly this is. If not she’s kookie

Black men have long experience with black women, and do not want to have one running the country.

When did Horizontal start answering questions?

“She needs to stop answering questions and start asking questions,” Carville said.

I've not read nor heard which questions he believes she should be asking.

She sure isn't going to be asking if Americans are better off than they were four years ago.

I'm not a fan of Trump.

BUT, the Democrats hyperventilating over the prospect of him winning is ridiculous. The guy was already President for 4 years, and the country didn't end or become Nazi Germany. And I think a whole lot of swing voters realize that, and can't be frightened into voting for Harris just because she isn't Trump.

Apart from the problem Kemala herself, I have a feeling that with a bunch of money flowing to the campaign, they become less selective in putting out massage. Anything that might sound interesting, anything that attack Trump, anything that looks good for Kemala, became ads or strategies.

As a result, they keep changing the taglines, the image, and Kemala herself before the message was even chewed by the public.

Michael Douglas and Maureen Dowd used to be a couple - until he left her for the far more attractive Ms. Zeta Jones.

It’s a FR tradition to add pics of the lovely Catherine to any threads with an article penned by Ms. Dowd, to figuratively rub it in her bitter old liberal face.

“Where Is the Fierce Urgency of Beating Trump?”

seriously? 95% of the media rants and raves and attacks Trump 24x7x365 ... how much more “urgency of beating Trump” can there be? ... oh, wait, that’s right: 5% more ...

Democrats have proven they will accept any nominee. They are in a frenzy of fear over Trump. The campaign is over, no one is changing their mind now.
