Amit Patel is currently serving a six-and-a-half year prison sentence after stealing $22 million from his former employer, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

FanDuel is facing a staggering lawsuit. Amit Patel filed a $250 million lawsuit in federal court on Tuesday. He accused the betting site of preying on his gambling addiction.

Patel, who previously worked for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is currently serving a six-and-half-year prison sentence. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud in March, admitting that he stole more than $22 million over the three years he managed the team’s virtual credit card program.

"Patel claims that FanDuel, its parent companies, and several John and Jane Does knew he was “an addicted gambler.” The defendants were allegedly aware of that due to Patel’s more than $20 million in deposits, the frequency of his wagers, and preoccupation with betting...."

“This dude takes the Victim mentality to the next level....sheesh SMH”

The next level would be to sue the Jaguars for giving him access to the credit card.

If suits like this were to succeed there would be no gaming industry.

75% of the people who play are probably “addicted” to some degree.

If you don’t want to lose, don’t play. If you lose, go whine to your mother.

I don’t gamble so I’ve never lost a dime.

The old arsonist’s argument that the matches and gas can made him do it.

Pete Rose was banned from the HOF, Fan Duel pays LeFlop big bucks to appear in commercials with Kevin Hart. Dak Prescott touts Blockchain during Cowboys games.

Am I sensing a double standard? I was never a Pete Rose fan, he admitted to betting on baseball.

If I was a juror in a civil case involving a compulsive gambler and a casino I could envision a few scenarios where I’d render a verdict against the casino.

Any industry where it is considered an acceptable practice for the business establishment to serve large quantities of alcohol to its customers and then extend them lines of credit is a criminal enterprise, as far as I’m concerned.

Hes not a woman - the defense of blame shifting and playing the victim card for bad personal choices, will not be allowed.

It might have a chance of working if he “identifies” as a woman...

Totally agree with you. Setting up a situation means taking responsibility for the outcome.

Winner == professional high stakes gambler

Loser == victim / gambling addict

Tangentially, how is the site supposed to know who’s an addict and who isn’t?

How do you tell between an addict and a regular normal or professional gambler?

Further if the addict is a good player and wins more than he loses can the site sue the player? Why if the addict is a bad player then they want to sue the site? For letting them lose?

He will be absolutely crushed in court.

People have sued credit card companies for this, saying their credit ratings should have disqualified them from getting the cards.
