A New Jersey animal shelter said a Jack Russell terrier spotted running loose for weeks along highways near Newark Liberty International Airport is now safe and has a new name: Monkey.
The dog, believed to be under a year old, was spotted on multiple occasions over the course of several weeks and evaded previous capture attempts.
The canine was eventually caught in a trap by Buddha Dog Rescue & Recovery, which gave the terrier the name Monkey.
Monkey was taken to Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge on a stray hold, but officials said they believe he was likely abandoned intentionally.
"Surprisingly, Monkey is not the first Jack Russell terrier dumped in the area in recent months. And, even more unexpectedly, it only took minutes for this adorable dog to warm up to human touch, despite evading rescuers for so long," the shelter said on social media.
Officials said Monkey is doing well in rehabilitation and will eventually be placed in a new permanent home.
New Jersey toll booth.
If only Sonny had EZ-Pass.
Very sad. He was likely given a voter registration card and will vote Democrat.
One dog voting for another.
If only Sonny had gone to Dagoba, so Yoda could coach him on his anger issues.
He was lucky he was in NJ and not Ohio.
Maybe he was trying to evade the Haitians.
I wonder how they determine that it was abandoned intentionally...
And then the indignity of being christened “monkey.”
He will vote for Trump, to keep the Haitians away.
He should be named “Dr. Kildare”. First for his courage, second for his amazing coat which makes him look like an MD in a white coat. Just needs the stethoscope round his neck!
Lucky and New Jersey are incompatable terms.
Lol.
Trouble is, he ate the canolie.
Tramps like us, doggy we were born to run.
It is a JackRussell after all who think they rule the world.
I have no problem with stamping them for being the bitches they are.
