Which brands were the safest?

-365 Whole Food Market organic ground cinnamon (0.02 ppm)
-Loisa organic cinnamon (0.04 ppm)
-Morton & Bassett San Francisco 100% organic ground cinnamon (0.04 ppm)
-Sadaf cinnamon powder (0.04 ppm)
-365 Whole Foods Market ground cinnamon (0.12 ppm)
-Sadaf seven spice (0.15 ppm)

Sounds like Whole Paychecks has a robust bribery program going.

Fear porn since cinnamon has many health benefits.

Ya'll stop taking that cinnamon, now, ya hear.

They don't even tell which ones are Ceylon cinnamon, and which ones are Cassia.

I noticed that too, Ceylon (or true) cinnamon is the one that helps regulate blood glucose. ~ (s) nully, diabetes diagnosed in 2005, A1c 5.8...

[...elevated levels of lead.]

They got it confused with Cinnammunition.

How many grams of cinnamon does the average person consume over, say, a year? Can’t be that much. At about 3.5 micrograms of lead per gram of the very worst cinnamon, I don’t see how anyone could ever notice any toxic effect that could be proven to result from cinnamon consumption and not from some other source of lead.

Just journalists trying to scare people.

I prefer Saigon cinammon.

The flavor difference from the usual stuff is amazing.

It was one of those tik tok type challenges. Actually probably before the days of tik tok. Nobody could eat a spoonful of dry cinnamon. But many people tried!

Makara cinnamon is used for the authentic taste of the popular “Cinnabon” products.

However, it is almost impossible to find.

Some say Korinjte cinnamon is a good substitute.

Lead snead - I used to chomp on toothpaste tubes when the casing was made of lead and I’m still not dead. Over blown alarms.

Absolutely it’s fear mongering.

Assuming the very worst brand of cinnamon, and doing A little math…

If you ate an entire pound of cinnamon in a year - which IMO would be an awful lot - 16 oz times 28 grams in an ounce times 3.5 micrograms of lead per gram…

….Equals 1.568 milligrams of lead. Over the course of an entire year. Wonder how much you ingest just by living??

Now, if I took large amounts of cinnamon medicinally? Maybe I might pay attention. But otherwise? Much ado about nothing.

I’m reminded of the great cranberry scare from decades ago. It turned out that if you ate 3 boxcar loads that your chances of getting cancer would be increased. The scare was reported before Thanksgiving and the truth wasn’t revealed until way after New Years.

I have 2 big containers of Badia cinnamon powder in my fridge. Dang it!
Maybe whole foods have the good stuff. Haven’t been there for years.

Long ago I read that the dark cinnamon is better than the light.
For taste or nutrition. I don’t remember.

I use a very mall amount on cereal only. That and a little local honey.
It’s great on toast with butter.

I imagine bakers use lots of cinnamon powder.
So what am I getting in the (donut) /s section bakery. O(((
