Vice President Kamala Harris surprised many Americans when she announced during the Tuesday's debate that she owned a firearm because of her history of pressing for more gun control.
'Tim Walz and I are both gun owners. We're not taking anybody's guns away. So stop with the continuous lying about this stuff,' she said during the debate with Donald Trump.
But Harris actually revealed her gun ownership on the campaign trail in Iowa, during her failed 2020 presidential campaign.
'I am a gun owner, and I own a gun for probably the reason a lot of people do – for personal safety,' Harris told voters in April 2019, reminding them she was once a city prosecutor.
Campaign aides at the time confirmed that Harris owned a handgun and that she kept it locked up. She has not revealed the make or model but says she's a good shot.
The Harris campaign did not return a DailyMail.com request for comment.
Harris spoke about shooting guns in a 2015 interview with journalist Mike Allen who asked her if she had ever shot a gun.
In response, Harris laughed and refused to say when was the last time she had used a gun.
'I'm a good marksman,' she added, laughing. 'Yes, I have shot a gun many, many times.'
She confirmed she had shot a 'pistol' but refused to share further details.

Why was she laughing? What was funny? I got an almost chuckle at the similarity between “marksman” and “Marxist,” and at the idea that she had to say marksMAN, but I doubt those were even potential sources of humor for her. She is not serious, nor is anyone who supports her.
Typical with today’s journalism, the headline leads one to believe she had a gun during the debate.
It is claimed she is anti-gun, which I believe as she is a true leftist. The imbecile owning a gun for self protection makes her a hypocrite, which is a true leftist trait.

Mark Kelly owns guns too. A lot of them. He even got caught buying one for his son.
They all have guns. This article isn’t making her case, it’s making ours.

Connecticut governor Dannel Malloy has guns too. Lots of them.
His son used to take them out regularly and commit crimes with them.
Which is very similar to the story of the school shooters where parents are held accountable for the crimes. But not the elites.

So Mizzz Harris, will you fight for the right of,say, New Yorkers to avail themselves of the same right you enjoy and arm themselves with their weapon of choice? Aren’t you outraged that NY does everything it can to impede NYers in their second amendment rights?
True! When I read that headline, the first thing I thought of was she had had a gun with her with debating. The second thing that I thought of was, "Well, I knew she was afraid of President Trump, but that's carrying it a little far ..."
Why would she have a gun during the debate?
Was she going to bag some felines for Haitian immigrants after the debate?
