I know many folks don't like it when someone creates a thread using a Youtube video as the source, and doesn't give a synopsis about what it's about, but I wanted to post this one because I think it speaks to the times we now live in.
Long and short, he says that when evil takes over, rural living is not much safer then living in the city and he lays out the reasons why. It's a good listen if you got the time. Share your thoughts.
Thanks all.
I live in a small town in NW Montana. We have a low rate of violent crime and a high rate of property crime due to all of the local meth use. It’s a long drive from here to any large urban areas. My greatest concern is woodland arson fires that are becoming increasingly common. It only takes one commiecrat with a lighter and an accelerant to make all of this beautiful land into an inferno.
The other things you mentioned are also items of concern. I've heard that a lot of mexican gangs and criminals are settling in Montana. That's really scary. I saw a report that the same thing is happening in rural parts of Ohio, and I'm sure it's happening in many more places thanks to open borders OBiden/Harris.
And squirrel. Moose and squirrel...and bear.
Houlton works and property and labor are inexpensive. Labor especially if you can pay cash. The socialist Canadian medical system assures many visitors to the medical facility for treatment.

Just pack for an extended camping trip, because that’s what you’ll be on.
“If you can get to your weapons in time.$
Should be with you at all times in the boonies.
“I don’t lock my house when I go to town.”
In the cool weather of spring and fall, we sleep with the front door open so the breeze can come through the screen door.
In cities, your building can have multiple groups lay siege to it and just wait you out. They can storm the people from all side and overwhelm you. You normally have only a couple of exits and they can be easily blocked.
In a rural area, you can establish high points which can be manned to see anyone approaching from all sides. A warning perimeter can be set up to allow you advance notice of anyone trespassing on your property and give you plenty of time to respond.
In rural areas, you KNOW your neighbors.
There is no way that I would trade my spot in the country for the “safety” of a city.
Dittos and Amen!
While I understand and agree with the sentiment, with the physical work I do it is a major strain on the body. I must pick and choose when I can afford it.
“It would be very easy to disrupt/eliminate a city’s food supply.”
Those big city filth will do it to themselves and otherwise be too busy killing each other to range in the country.
Just stand the rifle /shotgun against a nearby tree.
RURAL folks stick together.
I lived in So CAL for 29 years.
I only knew my direct neighbors-—no more past 2 houses each directions. Owned that House 27 years.
I DOUBT EVEN THEY KNEW I WAS ARMED.
The two primary things that pur rural over city survival are guns and food. Given the two options, I prefer being with the people who have guns and grow food.
Street smarts don’t help much when you hit redneck country. I grew up hunting, fishing, trapping, butchering, smoking meats, farming, ...... I know I can survive if I so desire.
The next thing is community working together. We know are neighbors and will work together.
Take Pennsylvania with 2 million deer hunters with high powered rifles. That’s a formidable group to confront.
Add to that that many rural folk are heavy equipment operators with the ability to close roads and bridges.
I have many friends who work in the mines and are explosive certified with many years of experience.
Take out the bridges across the rivers, especially the interstate highways and the city folks are screwed.
We have woodburners to heat our homes. On site wells and water supplies, plenty of livestock to butcher, and seeds to grow more food. We are sustainable.
I don’t see how anyone can believe that metro living is better for survival.
DEFINE “”TOO RURAL”.
There are ranches in N Nevada where the ranch owners leave the paved State Highway to drive to their house-—18 miles of DIRT ROAD-—and it is ALL ON THEIR PROPERTY.
Rural living is GREAT till someone kicks in your door. Yes, it has happened several times in Eastern Oklahoma over the last few years.

Another guy used to saddle his horse every day to go to the mailbox at the edge of his property & the State Road.
HE was getting old enough that riding was getting harder. HE had a friend of mine find him a RETIRED Harness racing mare-——he bought her at a rescue price, bought a buggy, and now drives the mare every mail day to the road & back. Problem solved. I think it is about a mile or so.
The dirt roads in my area are 500x cleaner and less contaminated than any big city streets.
When it rains in places like the LA area, the water runoff alone is so nasty and full of crawling cooties, they have to shut down the beaches.
Blap!
Out rural I’d be more worried about Ruby Ridge type federal criminals than the common urban filth.
The FN 1900’s weight is shown as 1.4 #. Don’t know if that’s with a full mag or not. I often get back from the ‘other side’ to discover it in my pocket.
