"Russia's wartime economic boom is masking much deeper problems, according to a group of researchers.
The authors of a recent article, who hail from institutions including the Yale School of Management, the Wharton School, the Carnegie Endowment, and the Kyiv School of Economics, cast a stark warning for Russia's economic situation despite the nation posting strong growth numbers since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Russia's economy is expected to expand another 2.4% this year, according to figures from the International Monetary Fund. However, much of that growth stems from the Kremlin's wild spending spree, and Russia's economy is hindered by a number of problems that could set it up for trouble in the long run, the researchers said.
"The reality of Russia's economic situation is far more complex and concerning than some would have you believe. The productive core of the Russian economy has been severely compromised," the group wrote in an op-ed for Fortune this week.
Russia has been spending heavily on its military and defense sectors, setting a record military budget for 2024. But that spending has come at a cost to Russia's private sector, some economists say, with other areas of its economy being slammed by a severe shortage of workers as resources get funneled into Russia's invasion of Ukraine." “Only individuals are credited as among the “Names of Righteous (by Country).”
CORRECT:
““Ukraine rates the 4th in the number of people recognized as “Righteous Among the Nations” for saving Jews during the Holocaust.
The history of the Jews in Ukraine goes back over a thousand years. Jewish communities have existed in the territory of Ukraine from the time of the Kievan Rus’ (late 9th to mid-13th century).
Some of the most important Jewish religious and cultural movements, from Hasidism to Zionism, rose either fully or to an extensive degree in the territory of modern Ukraine.
According to the World Jewish Congress, the Jewish community in Ukraine constitutes the third-largest in Europe and the fifth-largest in the world.
In the Ukrainian People’s Republic (1917-1920), Yiddish was declared a state language, along with Ukrainian and Russian. At that time, the Jewish National Union was created and the community was granted an autonomous status.
Yiddish was used on Ukrainian currency in this same period, between 1917 and 1920. Before World War II, slightly less than one-third of Ukraine’s urban population consisted of Jews; they were the largest national minority in Ukraine.
Total civilian losses during World War II and the German occupation of Ukraine are estimated at seven million. More than one million Jews were shot and killed by the Einsatzgruppen [paramilitary death squads of Nazi Germany that were responsible for mass-murder, primarily by shooting, during World War II (1939–1945) in German-occupied Europe.]

Is that Ukrainian Rock Star “ Havah Sweatlovah?”
The spammers are back. Propaganda from Kiev, propaganda from Moscow. It’s a family affair, feuding brothers.
Carnegie Endowment?:)
Look at the Russian debt, compared to that of the US.
What shopping spree they are talking about?
There are two primary sources of Russian growth.
The return of capital that is not much interested in a flight abroad anymore.
Import substitution on the departure of foreign businesses.
Government “shopping spree” in a reason #936.
Bury the Spammers in Spam is a great strategy.
Man, the list of Nazi scum in that Forward article is overwhelming!
And the nerve of current Ukrainians to include OUN pogrom supporters in the list of Babi Yar victims is beyond belief!
It's a single image. :)
Well Bless her Bippy ! LOL.
He was hired as a Ukie spokesman but was later fired and once again rehired.
Wikipedia page about him is very interesting.
Change the word “Russia” to “United States” and you’ve got the same situation, IMO. The only real difference would be that the increased spending by Russia on military efforts is replaced by needless social programs spending in the United States.
In a sad way yes
Thanks!
The West has been predicting the end of Putin and Russia a number of times over the past couple of years. Zeepers fall for it every time! LOL!
Didn’t Zelensky award him the 2024 Miss Ukraine title?
“So much so that YOU had it removed.”
Sadly, once again you comment with another false accusation.

Here’s another interesting FACT from the article:
“Ukraine is erecting new plaques and monuments to Nazi collaborators on a nearly weekly basis. Eduard Dolinsky of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee chronicles this explosion of Nazi collaborator whitewashing on Twitter, and wrote about it in the New York Times.”
Ukraine’s love of anything and everything nazi didn’t end with WW2, it continues and is picking up pace!
China is arguing that they are not helping Russia. While they are. They say there is less oil flowing through pipelines. But you have to take their word for it. Because you can’t see inside a pipeline. And of course that would make up for the other trading the two countries are doing with each other. And of course India has a pipeline as well. There is no lack of western products on the store shelves. And Russia can sell futures in oil, gas and gold just as easily as the actual product.
On the other hand Ukraine is merely tossing missiles and bombs at Russia. And of course they take pictures and send it to the western press every chance they get. But those are not captured positions. In fact, Ukraine can never capture and hold a position, not even in their own country. They don’t have the men. All they can do is bomb something. You can’t win a war like that.
