MANCHESTER, N.H. — After more than 50 years of rock ‘n’ roll, Aerosmith is retiring from performing.
The announcement came during the band’s farewell tour on Friday.
The reason for the band’s early retirement is their lead singer, Steven Tyler’s vocal injury.
“Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage,” said Aerosmith.
Tyler injured his vocal cords last September during an earlier show on the band’s 40-date “Peace Out: The Farewell Tour.” According to Tyler, the injury was so severe that it caused bleeding.
“The voice box is comprised of both cartilage and bone. So, when a fracture occurs in the voice box, the actual positioning of the structures that have to move can be altered, and not function as efficiently,” said Dr. Steven Zeitels from Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center.

You can lump in Ian Gillan with them. But I must admit, the new Deep Purple is pretty good, even if Ian’s voice isn’t what it once was.
My brother jokes that he intends to sue Aerosmith.
He believes his hearing loss started when he went to a concert in 1978, and was in the front few rows, in front of a bank of speakers.
Steven actually lives in NH. He has a house on the shore of Lake Sunapee. Not too far from the VT border. Which is where he actually grew up. He is NOT from Boston like Joe Perry and the rest of the band.
Every once in awhile he will show up at Mt Sunapee Ski area in the winter.
Last time he was there he was wearing a full length fur coat. He looks like an old lady.

Yep, I think he's from NYC as was one other band member. I've seen them once about 10-15 years ago and listened to them in the mid 70's when they made it big. I once heard a story about some Boston mafia types loaning them money early on but can't find anything about it.

Yes, they are now, but they had some other changes through the years at different times.

Deep Purple Warm-up was Ike & Tina Turner Review.
I don’t remember who was warm-up for ELP or Clapton.............

His real name is Steven Victor Tallarico. His cousin used to own a Chevrolet dealership (Tallarico Chevrolet) in Milford, NH for thirty years. I think there are a lot of Tallarico’s here in the southern NH/north of Boston area.

Later, after the Marines, I saw Asia, YES, Black Sabbath, Ted Nugent, AC/DC, Bob Segar, REO Speedwagon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Marshall Tucker, Steve Miller, Jimmy Buffett, Foreigner, Pablo Cruise, Kansas, and many more I can’t remember................🙄
