The smartest people I know are Freepers. Hopefully, y’all can give me some advice
My 72yo wife has ulcerative colitis (UC), she’s in her 6th month of trying to get it into remission. UC is bleeding ulcers in your colon – therefore rectal bleeding and diarrhea, poor girl has it hugely. Her last UC episode, which went into remission within a couple months, was 17 year ago when she was 55yo. She’s taken all her biologic initial dosages of Remicade. We have Medicare and Medigap insurance, we live in KY in a major metro area.
Her blood test results are Hemoglobin is 7.7, – normal is 15. If hemoglobin drops to 7.0 they give her blood transfusions. Iron count is 10 – normal is 30.
We and our 38yo son have not taken the Wuhan vaccines. If my wife needs a blood transfusion, can they use my or our son’s blood for the transfusion? I’m concerned about spiked proteins in the blood supply from random donors.
Or actually, my question is “how do I go about getting the Gastro Dr to use either my blood or our son’s blood vs general population blood?
I don’t think they’ll let you use your blood on her....what I’ve heard is that they don’t want the blood donor to be in an awkward situation because perhaps they have a “past” that is not too clean but don’t want to admit it to the relative......I’m sure you are fine but that’s the thinking in my area....

You can only use blood of the same type; with the exception of O- blood which is universal and rare.

Yes we are all O+
Gosh. Have you folks ever donated blood?
It is a trademarked ingredient made by respected mineral company Albion, so any reputable brand name should be roughly identical. Capsules may be better than tablets. Amazon appears to have dozens of Ferrochel supplements.
Also, Iron is better absorbed when taken with Vitamin C. It is also good to take Vitamin E with iron to protect against oxidation caused by iron.
Only about 7 per cent of Americans have that blood type, so donations are important because it’s necessary for emergency situations where there is no time for blood typing.
O+ is actually the most needed.
I suspect O+ is most needed just because it is most common.
Yes; as I understand, it can be donated to any other positive blood type - which means 80 per cent of people.
It’s only paranoia if they’re not out to get you. This world is evil and they are out to get you.
The whole world, and everyone in it?
I used to donate regularly. It’s not a big deal to donate blood. Once in a while you feel light headed but they give you cookies and juice and 20 minutes later you’re fine again. Sadly due to medical reasons and medication I take for my heart I am no longer allowed to give per protocol. I would if I could.
Young people in good health should donate. It’s a simple thing that is beneficial to the common good of the country.
I used to donate regularly, (I donated for the first time in my SR year of HS) but the last couple of times I tried to donate my BP was too high but am on meds again and lost some weight, so hope I can donate again soon.
I am also CMV negative which is much needed for babies and cancer patients who need a blood transfusion.
It is really pretty much painless and doesn’t take all that much time. I think I even read somewhere that donating blood can actually help reduce HBP. I’ve also donated plasma a few times which takes longer and more involved but still no really a big deal.
The biggest thing to do before donating blood is to drink a lot of water before and after and avoid some strenuous physical activity after, but for only the 1st 24 hours.
If you’ve even had a relative who desperately needs blood, please consider donating. Be the stranger who donated to save their lives to save someone else’s.
