This year all 32 NFL teams will start using facial recognition to verify the identity of people entering the stadium.

This is a clip that was posted recently on the Dallas Cowboys website. It shows how easy it is to identify someone in these large crowds.

The fact is it’s still their building and their business and they get to run it and secure it how they want.

Except it's not just their building and business. Taxpayers have subsidized both.

As for running it and securing it how they want...

Just because there’s a government subsidy doesn’t make it public property. And yes they do get to run security how they want. Even if it’s stupid.

“so they can’t recognize my face.”

Silly. If you wear a mask then you don’t pass screening and you wasted a ticket and a day.

But actually they are not scanning faces for regular fans.

Courts have ruled that government subsidies do in fact change public access. One clear example is the swarms of homeless in college libraries in inner cities. The school can't throw them out if the school took government subsidies. If the NFL owners don't want to play by taxpayers' rules, they don't get taxpayers' money.

Some people are bound and determined to deny that this kind of thing is being done, and is often done at the nexus of business and government. Here is a picture of me at a football game in 2016.

There was a story about tickets to a football game that had been sent to felons who had a warrant out on them as some kind of prize, and when they showed up at the game, they were arrested.

And that was many years ago.

Does anyone really think that if the government wanted these pictures to do whatever analysis they wanted, that they would be denied?

And does anyone really think that the government is doing it for "our protection"?

Personally, I am willing to take my chances with malignant terrorists rather than a malignant government.

A malignant terrorist might miss some of us.

A malignant government won't miss any of us. Think East Germany on steroids.

Unless it’s a private school it’s not private property. That’s not a matter of taking subsidies, that’s a matter of schools being supported by the government for the “common good”. That’s vastly different from a private business getting a subsidy. Do you think Tesla’s factory is public property? Cause they got lots of government subsidies.

Every time you walk into a casino or Walmart you’re face is scanned.

It’s not just about access. Tesla, in accepting the subsidy, agrees to the conditions, including oversight.

This discussion is ENTIRELY about access. And oversight is NOT access. You just claimed getting subsidies turns things into public property. You are wrong.
