New discoveries in human origins
YouTube ^ | July 19, 2024 | Lee Berger | Porto | GLEX ignition 2024

Paleoanthropologist Lee Berger revealed details about the fascinating discovery in South Africa of remains belonging to a previously unknown species of pre-humans, dating back over two million years.

Numerous traces of this species were found in an underground chamber in Dinaledi, leading to the conclusion that it served as a burial site—a ritual previously thought to be exclusively human. Subsequent evidence of stone tools and even the use of fire were also discovered, indicating a species the size of a chimpanzee that predates the Neanderthals.

What do you mean nope?

“Berger was lead author of a controversial report of the discovery in 2006 of what he and colleagues claimed were small-bodied humans in Palau, Micronesia.[18][non-primary source needed][19][20] Scholars have disputed the argument that these individuals are pygmoid in stature, or that they were the result of insular dwarfism”

That’s 2006.

Now he’s found new little creatures in South Africa.

Yeah, disputed, not handed down in stone. That makes him like every scientist worth his or her salt, not some kind of huckster or hoaxer.

Finding our “missing link” progenitors is highly unlikely to be found among larger hominids.

Is there another way into the chamber? Maybe a way since collapsed?
It seems highly unlikely that these folks would have dragged the bodies thru the tight places described repeatedly over the years. Yeah, I realize they were smaller but that doesn’t make a tight squeeze into a boulevard.
There is no mention of artifacts...was Uncle Ooog not laid down with his favorite spear point or chopper?
Looking to learn more...

The creatures described are not very "little", averaging about five feet tall.

The human average height in Europe in 1700 was only five foot, six inches.

Thank you for posting the entire transcript in a readable format - I know how much time that consumes as I do it myself most days. Thank you again!

I wondered about that as well.

However, the bones were not disturbed by scavengers.

“There is literally zero light inside caves.”

except that given off by bio-luminescent organisms

“Fire is out of the question. Either the fire burns up all your oxygen, or it chokes you to death with smoke.”

If the air is stagnant - not moving - then fire would burn it all up. However, if the air is stagnant, then people in the cave risk death where pockets of air have been used up by the surrounding rock over time. Which is why smart cavers carry oxygen meters - to avoid what amounts to instant death - air here, then one step more, no air.

So obviously, this cave system has moving air. Else everyone on the expedition would be dead and we would not be reading this report.

Since that is the case, there is no problem burning torches.

Its not a zero sum game; its not addressed in “scientific literature” because it is common sense.

He clearly states their stature was withing human range, the were not “little people” - shorter than you perhaps, but not dwarfs, pygmies or midgets.

And, while making the connection from an outlier into an unexplored main passage of The Mammoth Cave, literally miles from the entrance, bare foot prints were observed in the mud.

That event occurred within the last 50 years. The bare foot print was made unknown years and years ago.

“We CT-scanned it in my wife’s x-ray machine - she’s a radiologist - and we saw an individual, a child about 13 years of age. We’d find two other faces in there - a neonate and this. Do you see those blue lines right there? That’s a hand. Do you see the orange thing, which is conveniently labeled “rock”? That is a tool-shaped rock that no human being has ever seen except in this image.

This is being produced at the synchrotron in Grenoble, France, the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, and you are looking at what looks like a tool buried with the H. naledi in the hand of a 13-year-old H. naledi child. A nonhuman species is the only artifact like that in the entire system.”

Uncle Ooog did not have an artifact, but his ‘grandson’ did.

I watch a lot of British TV. There are many scenes prtrayed in very old buildings and homes. Although strange to watch, modern men must duck down say at least six inches to pass through the old doorways.

One can roughly calculate that the doors were built to allow passage of men who were only 5’ 3” or so. They were shorter but not dwarves.

No, the bodies crawled back there themselves. Just stop.

Or most anywhere in Asia people are by and large shorter than Europeans.

The cave in question required a half hour of ascending and descending, through very narrow holes and gaps, just to get to the fossil area.

It took several years of preparation before exploration was considered safe.

No one understood how our pre-human cousins could do this without light.

Eventually, evidence of fire was discovered in the fossil area, - but no where else.

Perhaps the fossils belong to victims of asphyxiation, which might explain their highly preserved condition.

Sure neatly burred themselves while dying one after the other - can’t you accept that caves have more than one air source? Or are you just wasting time?
